Puerto del Carmen is a central place, very convenient for the airport and well connected, but not the best place to visit nor has the best beaches. To reach the best beaches from Puerto del Carmen you need a car or a text. I’d recommend Playa Chica, Playa Dorada, Playa de Papagayo. We eat very well at our hotel, Lava Beach (buffet with lots of different choices every day) and great Spanish cuisine at El Molino. The other restaurants in the area are very touristic. Also check out Casa Tere a bit further- great fresh fish- and La Carmencita, which requires booking. PDC is an ideal location, for families and couples. Great beaches,lots of shops bars and restaurants. Fabulous transport links and excursions. A great blend of old and new, without the disgusting tower block architecture of other tourist countries.
