Housed in a 17th Century rural house, this hotel is located on the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage Route, 2.2 mi from Samos. It offers a garden, outdoor pool and a terrace with views of the River... Wow! Casa de Diaz was an incredible casa rural and a nice break from walking the Camino. Everything about this place was fabulour. I highly recommend this hotel!
Worth the detour from the main route of the Camino. THis medieval town is nestled in a valley along side a crystal clear stream. The 6th century monastery is still attended and worth a visit! especially vespers sung by the monks. The tour is in Spanish but I got the gist and it was an interesting place to walk through. Can recommend Cafe Espana and restaurant Albaroque for eats. Casa Licerio was a calm, friendly place to stay especially after the bustle of albergue life.
What a beautiful walk to Sarria through Samos. Very green, walking along the river. Visited the very beautiful and impressive monastery, attended the pilgrims mass. Lovely stay and worth the longer but very rewarding route to Samos.
Samos is one of the "alternative" stages of the Way of St. James, not to be missed by anyone on a religious pilgrimage to Santiago de Compestela. The town is right on the river and literally is built around the "largest" monestary in Europe. Tours of the monestary are given in English & in Spanish. It is very easy to get around and features numerous bars and restaurants for you dining pleasure.
As you enter from the Camino there is a very nice cafe with terrace. We had the mixta salad of which we've had many having been on the Camino for a month. Excellent! Second best award. The Benedictine Monastery is recommended take the tour and attend a church service.
Amazing place, fantastic position, friendly staff. What a shame it was only 1 night!!
