Tarragona is located on the sunny ‘Costa Daurada‘, in southern Catalonia. With an inheritance dating back to local tribes, Carthaginians and Romans, it is today a vibrant cultural and economic centre. Don’t miss the ‘human towers’ during Tarragona’s Santa Tecla Festival, but check your hotel availability for the area with enough time in advance.
The ‘human towers’ became so popular all across Catalonia that they can be visited throughout the year at the festival centre ‘Casa de la Festa’. Try the local seafood dishes in El Serrallo fishing district, and don’t miss the wines from the area.
The city was an important provincial capital during Roman times and includes several UNESCO World Heritage sites, with the seaside amphitheatre from the 2nd century being the most relevant. The 12th-century Cathedral of St Mary was built on the site of a former Jupiter temple and a Muslim mosque, and mixes Romanesque and Gothic styles.
Reus Airport is a few kilometres outside the city, while Barcelona El Prat Airport is 90 km away. Tarragona is located near Salou resort, and hotels in the area are also very popular. Whether you need a guest house in the historic centre or a resort on the beach, check out the Tarragona accommodation deals on Booking.com!

I was only in tarragona for 1 day and night and could have stayed for much longer , I was situated in the old town which was great for bars and food all of which I found good value given the location . I loved the feel of the place even though I didnt visit the beaches and to me it still felt like a real Spanish city .

For us, Tarragonna was just the right size.
For us, Tarragonna was just the right size. You can walk everywhere. Sights were easily accessible and staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English.
Some areas were a little shabby.
There seemed to be few "ordinary" restaurants offering set meals.

Lovely city to visit, you need at least a couple of days - I didn't manage to do everything I wanted to do in two days! Definitely do a free walking tour (e.g. Guru Walks) as you learn so much about the layers of history in the city. Lots of great places to eat, nice views, lovely beach and lots of options for longer walks out of the city (along the coast and to the aqueduct).

The thing that I like most is how the beaches are really clean and they have nice showers!!!
The only downside is that there’s loud noises in the night and if you have a baby that goes to sleep at 6:30 or 7:00 good luck with restaurants.

The coastal area was clean and well presented as was the old part of the city and the area immediately around it. Bus station area was of a similar standard, with available taxi’s at the bus station and the city station. There were plenty of things to see away from the beach area.

An interesting city, with a Roman forum and oher Roman remains. You can see people building the famous "towers" of Tarragona. The people are very nice and happy. The bakeries and pastry shops offer a great range of specialties.
The bad access to the Miracle beach was a problem for us. The city is not quite clean.
Lovely young lady(with glasses) on Reception. She was very pleasant, helpful and an excellent ambassador for the Hotel. This is a nice Hotel which is only 5 minutes walk to the beach and roughly 10 minutes by bus from Tarragona( Bus 11 or 12).
The Hotel has parking( also free parking on street), small outdoor swimming pool and an Aldi and Mercado within 200 metres. Almost across the road from the Hotel if you go up the flight of steps you will, find on the right two very good coffee shops.
Overall this a good hotel in a good area.
Great apartment and central to all amenities. Do venture about as Tarragona has lots to offer. Jump on the no 16 bus across the road, which will take you straight to one of the best beaches we have ever been too. 4 flights of stairs is pointed out to you at the point of booking so pack light (washing machine and detergent provided) and by the end of the week you will be running up them!
Great staff, spacious apartment (exceptionally clean!).
The location was perfect-overlooking the beach, with a clear view of the Roman amphitheatre and the old town.
The hotel was very modern and comfortable. The breakfasts were really good-an excellent choice of fruits, pastry, cakes, cooked meat, yoghurt, etc. The roof top bar was lovely with a small pool, shade and a good range of food and drinks,
Staff were excellent.
Friendly and kind staff, great location, close to the supermarket, city center, 10 min by foot from the beach, good value for money. Appreciated the pastries on the door in the morning and the coffee in the hotel lobby. Probably will come back again.
The apartments are very nice and modern furnished. The location is excellent! Just next to the old town of Tarragona. The breakfast served in the hotel that belongs to the apartments as well was tiny but tasty. We enjoyed our stay a lot.
