Elizabeth was great. Very helpful. The inn is clean and cozy and welcoming but it is isolated outside of town. Not a bad thing! Just so you’ll know what to expect.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at REC.ON Spain in Andalusia and loved it!!! It was an unforgettable experience. This beautifully restored, rustic, charming Andalusian dwelling at the foothills of the mountains is a truly unique place. It’s not your typical agritourism but a live in gallery of applied art and design where everyone is welcomed and where you can meet the coolest people from all over Europe. Some come and go and some stay there for a while to get inspired and let their creative juices flowing.
This combination of traditional charm with modern touch of the hosts’ design creations and contemporary Spanish art makes it exceptional. Both the building with the room accomodations and the grounds have been created in the spirit of upcycled design. I so enjoyed our gatherings and barbeques at the outdoor kitchen area, being nourished by the produce from their permaculture garden, chilling in the hammocks skilllfully put together by Bart, and above all relaxing up in the in the shade of the tree house drinking delicious local wine and admiring breathtaking views.
All this magic is created by the hosts Paulina and Bart. A lovely couple whose unparalleled service and hospitality makes it truly unforgettable. I already miss their daily treat of delicious and beautifully served espresso cof- fee, fresh and crunchy baguettetes dipped in their own organic olive oil, local wine and above all this incredibly friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Finally I have to say that what sets REC.ON Spain apart is its commitment to environmental friendliness. Instead of a conventional swimming pool, the property offers a small pool/eco bidon filled with mountain spring water providing refreshing experience and at the same time conserving water. But if you’re a swimmer don’t worry because you’ll have a complimentary admission to the magnificent Velez Rubio municipal pool.

Beautiful scenery with olive groves and almond orchards all around, apparently spectacular in the spring when the almond trees are in blossom!
It was very peaceful with a BBQ area, an outside jacuzzi and a nice pool. Surrounded by olive groves and mountains. The villages of Velez Rubio and Velez Blanco are just a short drive away.
The hostess Laureen did all she could to make us feel very welcome and prepared a lovely breakfast.
We hope to return for longer next time.
