Located in the famous village of Barbizon, this former hunting lodge is set on the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest, in the heart of a shaded park. Free WiFi is provided. Charming place with a great garden and very nice “castle like” suite. Peaceful and clean, the integrated Jacuzzi in the bathroom is a must ! Thanks for the kindness of the waitress ;)
Hôtel Les Pleiades Hôtel-Spa-Restaurant is located in Barbizon, just 5.6 mi from Château de Fontainebleau and 8.7 mi from Melun. The staff are very friendly and manage everything for you. After check out, no issue to use the spa, pool, it was a very nice moment
Located in Barbizon countryside, 6.2 mi from Fontainebleau Castle, this B&B offers free Wi-Fi, a tennis table and a garden with a furnished terrace. Lovely BB. Everything charming. Very good breakfast. We really enjoyed the place, However with the Canicule ( way high temperatures) we would have needed air conditioning. The charming hostess gathered fans BUT... Still we would be back in a different season.
Offering a restaurant, La Folie Barbizon offers accommodations in Barbizon. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. It was the perfect escape from the city - post covid nature retreat. The hotel is a step away from the most abundant forest. Great for walks, pic nic and climbing. The village is out of a picture book. In all the places that were open the hosts were extremely welcoming. The hotel is peaceful, inspiring and the gardens are such a treat to retreat to with a book or for a chat with one of the staff or resident artists. I can't wait to go back.
Located in Barbizon, La Rotonde offers B&B accommodations just 4.3 mi from the Forest of Fontainebleau and 6.2 mi from Palace of Fontainebleau. This is a little gem of a find when it comes to superb quality accommodation and outstanding service from the most wonderful sweet host Elie. We booked at the last minute, and arrived before Booking had even passed on the information about our arrival. This did not faze Elie one bit. She welcomed us with genuine pleasure, and allowed us to leave our baggage in the room which she still needed to prepare following the previous guests' departure. We walked a very pleasant 10 minutes into the centre of Barbizon, which is as breathtakingly stunning as the Foret de Fontainebleau that sits at the edge of this unique artists' village, and had a superb dinner at La Boheme which we also highly recommend. On our return we found our immaculately clean, well equipped bedroom with a huge ensuite bathroom ready for us, which has patio doors opening out to the terrace and beautifully manicured and artfully designed garden at the front of the house. We slept like babies in the absolute silence of the night with the patio doors open and the tall wooden shutters closed to ventilate the room on the warm night. (There is an electric fan to be found in the bathroom cabinet for those who wish to sleep in a cooler environment - better than air-con in our opinion.) Elie deserves a heartfelt mention here too... she is a very special, independent woman with a story to tell about how she has come to where she is now. Ask her and she will oblige! She has worked so very hard to achieve this fine example of a home from home, and her pride in her achievements is palpable. She could not do enough to please us - and asking for a late breakfast was no problem at all. She prepared the most delicious omelette and home made pancakes, and the bread and jams are all her own work! She also prides herself in her freshly prepared fruit salad which is to die for! It was so hard to leave and say goodbye. But she will see us again without a doubt! Thank you so much Elie from Karine and Darren xx
Set in Barbizon, LE COTTAGE BARBIZONNAIS avec jacuzzi privé à partir de 10 ans features a garden and a terrace. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Our hostess Virginie was delightful and the cottage was simply perfect. It was beautifully constructed in Virginie's large and spacious garden. It feels comfortably separated from the main house and will soon have a wonderful hot tub on the deck. The interior is lovely with all the fine wood craftsmanship done by our host's husband. Every comfort had been thought of and it was a short walk to Barbizon's main street with lovely restaurants and 3 small but perfect galleries of the Barbizon painters. The village of Barbizon was stunning and the walk on into the forest at the end of the main street is stunning. A perfect location for our stay enroute to the south of France, we normally just head down the motorway, but we will certainly visit again next time we travel to France.
I went to Barbizon because of the art- the museums etc.. Normally all national museums in France are closed on Mondays, here they were closed on Tuesdays! i was very very disappointed. The tourist Office, in the month of August, with a village full of tourists, is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays too, it is absolutely scandalous. Many private art galleries were closed too, it's pathetic.... and I am French! Do NOT miss the Besharat Museum gallery, with its stunning exhibition of modern art, sculptures and amazing paintings, plus a beautifully restored house and large garden; and hall exhibition. a gem. And do go for delicious real cuisine at the "le Gaulois sur le grill", 3 stars. friendly staff too!
This is a quaint artists community. Very small and very charming. Not a lot to do here, but it is a perfect place to relax and soak up the culture. Also, very close by rental car to many amazing sites and communities; many are just 10-20 minutes away. You will need to pick up a rental car either in Paris or Fountainebleau (10 minutes from Barbizon).
This is a great place for anyone who likes to walk in the forest and in particular those who enjoy bouldering. In the near vacinity there are also many historic places to visit and a great rural atmosphere. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance.
Barbizon is a great place to stop & spend a night when walking around Fontainebleau's Forest! Take a walk through this small town's scenic streets after 5-6PM, after the crowds have thinned out, and have dinner in the back garden of one of its many restaurants.
Came for the bouldering sites. Unfortunately, lots of rain so precluded this activity. But found amazing restaurant, Les Gaulois,. Try the entrecôte and fries, and fois gras as a starter. Friendly staff, lovely ambience.
Picturesque village reknown for its art school and galleries. Lovely location for walks in the nearby fairytale-like forests and great cuisine. Easy to explore nearby Fontainebleau and for day visits to Paris.
