Château de Monsac is an obvious labour of love for Fabienne and Frédéric whose welcome was so genuine and warm. It was a privilege to enjoy the incredibly restored buildings and grounds and to learn of its fascinating history. Breakfast every morning was delicious and dinner on the terrace was a fabulous experience too. The wine list was so nice we set off specifically to visit those vineyards. There are so many lovely villages and place to explore within short drives every direction of le chateau and Fabienne and Frédéric were great with suggestions everyday. Our room was stunning and the pool was amazing. Our dog loved it all too. As a base for exploring Le Périgord it is perfect. 4 nights was not enough.

We stayed at Domaine de Sens Bas last year for a week and had a thoroughly wonderful time. This time however it was even better as we were in Eric and Veronique’s self contained two bedroom gite allowing us to come and go as we wished. The gite was beautiful and private, separate from the main property, yet we were still able to use the pool and wee cafe facilities with evening meals also available. It was spacious, full of charm and character, the bedrooms had air conditioning which was essential as the temperatures hit 41 degrees a couple of times. The living area which was always cool, had stone floors, a comfortable sofa, big TV with fibre wifi and a great kitchen dining area with a lovely large dining table. Every morning we had a quality breakfast served by Veronique out by the balcony overlooking their fields and woods. The pool was a good size, clean and quiet, great to relax around before the temperatures became too hot. The two donkeys, a mother and daughter are adorable, very friendly and gentle and we were sad to leave them. This is a very special place to stay. The tranquility and beautiful surroundings allow you to relax and enjoy quality time spent with family or friends. Whether that be enjoying good food, the abundant wildlife in the evenings or games of scrabble whilst eating ice cream around the pool. Eric and Veronique were always around to ensure that our needs were catered for. They always made time to chat even when they were busy, they were very friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome and comfortable. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and can honestly say we enjoyed every moment we were there. Hopefully we will be able to return next year, for more relaxing and donkey cuddling.

The host Natalie was lovely, we just used the property as a base whilst visiting family. It was super well stocked and very accommodating. The beds were comfy and we came back to a gift of homemade Crepes on our second night along with fresh bread and juice which was a really nice gesture. I have no hesitation in recommending this place we will certainly look to book again when we are in the area.

Kind hosts, my mother had died and I was over for the funeral so they were helpful in giving a late check out without charge. Everything you need, comfortable beds. Thank you
