Breakfast was very complete. Tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit, different kinds of bread, cereal, bath eggs, etc. They helped us with what we requested. I would totally recommend!

Blaye is a pretty historic town and with a good market on Wednesday. There are quite a few things to see and do in the area, including the magnificent Citadel. This area is well known for the Royal Marine Comandos, the "Cockleshell Heroes" of the Second World War, to whom we paid our respects for their epic journey by kayak on the Gironde and their mission, "Operation Frankton" to Bordeaux. We will be back to explore more another time.

Blaye is very conveniently located on the Gironde. The ferry, which crosses the estuary, crosses frequently. There are plenty of excellent places to eat and drink. The choice of wine, in particular, is enormous! We hired a car which we picked up at Bordeaux airport and it was very easy to visit the beautiful countryside with it's rich history. It was great to see the world famous vineyards and their Chateaux. The market in Blaye is well worth a visit as is the historic citadel.

Winter time visit to see friends so local sights and features less important. Most tourist attractions closed for winter. La Marina restaurant on Rue de la Mairie outstanding food served in modern decor. Main church worth a visit. Citadel fortress interesting. Many vineyards and wine chateau nearby.
