Our room was 1st floor, one above ground and was easy to access. Our window overlooked a pathway to the river and was quiet. The room was clean, fresh and well maintained. The exterior and courtyard maintained a rustic and historic charm. The young lady at reception was bright and chearful and most accommodating. The location is fantastic right in the middle of the Main Street. The Wednesday market was right outside our front door.

Yes, this hotel is in the lovely grounds of the Chateau, and no, we didn't expect to be staying in the actual Chateau but we were disappointed by the shabbiness of the place. The room was clean enough but I really didn't like having the shower cubicle in the bedroom, there was certainly no privacy. The bed itself was ok but think 70's stretchy brushed cotton sheets, blanket and eiderdown, and the TV was so high up it was almost impossible to watch. The breakfast was basic which was fine, and the croissants were very nice, but it seemed strange that there was absolutely no one around apart from a girl who briefly appeared to fill up the coffee machine and then disappeared again. In fact the whole hotel seemed to be lacking staff. On arrival a lady appeared from the big house to greet us and give us a key and then apart from the girl at breakfast we saw no one! We left the key on the table at reception on our way out!

The apartment was located 1 minute from the Quay and nice restaurants. There was a courtyard that was sunny mid day, where we ate lunch The place is very comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The host was helpful and quick to respond to any queries. Definitely recommend the apartment and the lovely village of Saint Valery
