Such a lovely auberge with friendly and helpful people. Fabulous room with a very comfortable bed and a good balance of bed linen... not too hot, not too cold! It even had a bath. Perfect!

Francois-Xavier and Virginy were so kind in so many different ways. They treated us as their own family, and we loved every minute of our stay. The fetching of pizza's from the local pizzeria, which saved us more saddle time on already sore behinds, was hugely appreciated! :)

Our stay at Gunter and Heidi’s charming farm near Conques was exceptional. The setting is spectacular, peaceful countryside with many attractions close by. The room was beautifully appointed, featuring a superb shower and a wonderfully comfortable bed. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and the hospitality truly outstanding. We left feeling relaxed and warmly welcomed, and we look forward to returning soon.

As an art historian, I found it absolutely mesmerizing to be...

As an art historian, I found it absolutely mesmerizing to be in the vicinity of the abbey of St. Foy. The tympanum sculptures, along with the monk's guided tour of them, the tribune tour every night, the light show projection on the tympanum at night were all great. Seeing the reliquary of St. Foy, and Charlemagne reliquary was wonderful too. I spent two entire days exploring the abbey and another wandering the streets of town (up and down hill hiking). It is an enchanting place.

Conques is a fantastic mediaeval village.

Conques is a fantastic mediaeval village. Very easy to spend a couple of days wandering around the streets. The church is a wonder. Auberge St. Jaques is very central with a restaurant and a bar. You do need to be able to negotiate the stairs, though.

When we arrived in the rain the lady allowed us in early. The room was clean and functional for us and close to great food (Chez Dani for a huge, tasty and great priced lunch with lovely staff) and Conques is beautiful with limited accommodation in season, so we were fortunate to find availablity though it was pricier than other areas.

Great location right in the centre of the village. A chance to sleep in a medieval building with loads of character. Lovely to be in Conques after almost all the tourists have gone. Walls within the building are a bit thin - we could hear people talking next door. But it was quiet after 9pm (and they provide ear plugs just in case!)

Enjoyed spending the evening in Conques surrounded by walkers and no cars. There was an extremely spiritual aura of the town. Watching the illumination of the outside porche of the church at sunset after a half hour detailed description of the Catholic carvings was électrique.

We stayed in the guest house which was a generous size. Comfortably furnished. Ample kitchen. Spacious bathroom, great shower. Lovely gardens to sit in and an adjoining path along the river. Short distance from Conques. Warm and gracious hosts.
