Excellent location and very nice restaurant offering local fare. Very good value for money. Very friendly staff but the cherry on the cake was Neil who was also fluent in Afrikaans and who could explain so many things to us!

Beautiful house in Beautiful location with car parking right outside the front door. Charming hostess. Excellent continental breakfasts and she cooked a very nice evening meal for us on a public holiday. Large garden on the banks of the river Lot. Large, heated, covered swimming pool. Large very nicely decorated bedroom with separate toilet and shower-room. All "public" rooms large and beautifully decorated. Good internet connection.

A big thank you to the hosts who are a really nice Belgian couple speaking good English. We loved the theme of the room and the property is beautiful. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice and good coffee. They have 4 donkeys and a beautiful cat Molly.

Conques is a rare specimen. A preserved medieval village.

Conques is a rare specimen. A preserved medieval village. Not really a 'living' community BUT while it is almost exclusively a tourist attraction, it does NOT cater to the Fridge Magnet trade! Most of the shops sell artisinal goods of decent quality and taste. And if you stay the night - most of the tourists leave! The Abbey is a magnificent specimen of Romanesque architecture. And they have concerts in the evening.

As an art historian, I found it absolutely mesmerizing to be in the vicinity of the abbey of St. Foy. The tympanum sculptures, along with the monk's guided tour of them, the tribune tour every night, the light show projection on the tympanum at night were all great. Seeing the reliquary of St. Foy, and Charlemagne reliquary was wonderful too. I spent two entire days exploring the abbey and another wandering the streets of town (up and down hill hiking). It is an enchanting place.

Conques is a fantastic mediaeval village.

Conques is a fantastic mediaeval village. Very easy to spend a couple of days wandering around the streets. The church is a wonder. Auberge St. Jaques is very central with a restaurant and a bar. You do need to be able to negotiate the stairs, though.

Le Compostelle de Conques is a medieval building that has recently been carefully restored and furnished to provide three small, but very cosy, apartments with all the facilities one needs for a short stay. The character and atmosphere is a mix between a mountain hut and an old sailing yacht's cabin. The room had a wonderful view overlooking the mist lined valley and the roof tops of Conques. An added bonus is that one can also park directly outside.

A wonderful stay in Conques! The host makes everyone feel welcome and creates a really warm and friendly atmosphere among guests. The place is beautiful, very clean, and perfectly located with a stunning view. And there’s also a lovely dog!
