I have visited Dieppe for the past three summers and really...
I have visited Dieppe for the past three summers and really enjoy visiting as a solo female traveller. The restaurants and cafes are welcoming, there are many good walks and expeditions available, the prices are reasonable and there's a real sense of place there. You really feel like you're visiting somewhere that people life rather than a tourist town. The Saturday market was a real highlight of my trip, with the Grand Rue full of amazing local produce and hot food. Another joy this year was the Lire a la Plage initiative with reading spaces and free books to borrow on the beach at Dieppe and 12 other coastal locations in Normandy. Just WONDERFUL!
The town is an easy train trip to Rouen or further on to Paris and the buses that run frequently along the coast are well priced and stop at lovely Normandy towns and villages. Even in high summer, the town moves at a pace that allows for reading, walking, thinking and taking in the sights. You can walk to Pourville-sur-Mer or Plage de Puys in a little over an hour and the view on the way are fantastic. I'd recommend Dieppe to anyone who's looking for a welcoming break from the day to day and the ferry from Newhaven is great value (especially for foot passengers) and convenient.

This was my second visit to Dieppe in 2 years.
This was my second visit to Dieppe in 2 years. I love the huge market with great choice of fresh food from local farms including cheeses, honey, fruit and veg, plus an array of non food items including clothes and hardware; the Cafe des Tribunaux with its fine art deco interior and good tables in the sun out front for people watching and making new friends; and the beautiful Eglise Saint Jacques. Fantastic Moules Marinieres at Tout Va Bien on the attractive Quai Henri IV, and delicious gourmet fish lunch at Bistrot des Barrieres. Convenient shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to Dieppe railway station. Another visit needed to explore the castle and beaches!

Beautiful active town. Not just a tourist town. There is a fishing industry as well as factories in the area. Great for families with young children. Everything is walkable. Swimming is most pleasant at LOW TIDE, when you can leave your shoes on the edge of the pebble beach and walk into the sand water. Water is a bit murky/brackish due to many fresh water springs miwing with sea water. It is very clean. One huge criticism: there are not enough public toilets. There is one on the great lawn on the beach front which closes at 6pm. The ones in the train station are shut down. They recommend using the ones in the cinema across the streat "Megarama". This is really a big problem.

First visit and would definitely return. It's very easy to explore on foot.
Great variety of shops, bars and restaurants, Two of our favourite restaurants were Le Garden and La Musardiere on the quayside.
The cathedrals were stunning. The old town across the bridge was well worth a visit. Visit a quirky little cafe/bar called Mieux ici qu'en face, full of old radios.
The beach is sandy at low tide and the promenade has plenty of seating and food and drink kiosks.
Great mini golf course.
Exploring the coast either side is also worth it. Pretty villages and lovely beaches.

There is a relaxed atmosphere in the town. Good selection of restaurants, and even reasonable choice for my veggie wife. Tend to only pass through as a ferry stop, but a day or two spent in the town worth the visit.

Dieppe is a gorgeous traditional Normandy town with a fairytale castle (free to visit, but closed Mondays and Tuesdays), a lovely port, lots of good eateries, beautiful architecture and wonderful history - especially from WW2. Its market was voted the best in France in 2020. It's easy to get to from the Newhaven ferry (very convenient from London and the southern counties) and there's a direct motorway connection to Paris.

This is a very nice apartment: well-designed, modern, clean, and new. A lot of thought has gone into it and for the price it is a real bargain. The apartment is near the harbour and a lot of restaurants and bars. I did not meet the owners but they responded promptly to queries. This was my favourite accommodation on my trip through France -- I thoroughly recommend it.

I was touring around France and was going to arrive in Dieppe at lunchtime but my ferry to England was near midnight so I booked this hotel to hang-out and rest whist I waited for the ferry. It is a value for money, chain style hotel that suited my needs. It was within a short walk to the bars, cafes and restaurants. The staff were friendly, helpfull and honest.

This is not a hotel or B&B, but a private room in someone's house. The owner is most accommodating and amenable. Everything is very informal, apart from your own room, which is evidently private. The location is great, five minutes from the better known parts of Dieppe, and with the bedroom overlooking the courtyard, the nights are quiet.
