Really beautiful place, it's perfect experience for french countryside, romantic and quiet. The location it's easy access by car, you can park close to the seaside (seems Saturday will be difficult). We need to drive 3km to get dinner, but all fine if you have car. The room it's clean, spacious for two, have coffee machine,hot water cooker, shampoo etc. walking distance to the coast with cliffs. Breakfast with high quality bread was brought to the bed by landlord, lovely. Good communication with landlords even if non-french speaking

Dieppe is a charming seaside town with plenty of restaurants - although as with many seaside towns nowadays, it is a little rundown in some parts. We visited the castle and that was very worthwhile. The cathedral is beautiful - amazing sculptures. We also visited the seafarers' church on the cliffs and enjoyed the clifftop walk. We stopped to talk to a group of pensioners (with our schooldays French!) and it was fun to be given advice about the footpath walk from locals.

The choice of restaurants was good and the interesting boats good to look at. Good info centre. Shopping centre a little tired. V good market in Saturday. Wish we had gone to the chateau museum but left it till Monday when it was closed, of course.

The quayside is really nice, really pretty, and there are lots of good restaurants. I had some great food in Dieppe. There are lovely little independent shops on the main shopping streets: chocolatier, patisserie, delicatessen, candle-maker and so on. It's nice walking along the beach, and I think you can swim there too. I walked up to the castle, which gives a view of the town, and there are well-kept memorial gardens with colourful flowers.

I have visited Dieppe for the past three summers and really enjoy visiting as a solo female traveller. The restaurants and cafes are welcoming, there are many good walks and expeditions available, the prices are reasonable and there's a real sense of place there. You really feel like you're visiting somewhere that people life rather than a tourist town. The Saturday market was a real highlight of my trip, with the Grand Rue full of amazing local produce and hot food. Another joy this year was the Lire a la Plage initiative with reading spaces and free books to borrow on the beach at Dieppe and 12 other coastal locations in Normandy. Just WONDERFUL! The town is an easy train trip to Rouen or further on to Paris and the buses that run frequently along the coast are well priced and stop at lovely Normandy towns and villages. Even in high summer, the town moves at a pace that allows for reading, walking, thinking and taking in the sights. You can walk to Pourville-sur-Mer or Plage de Puys in a little over an hour and the view on the way are fantastic. I'd recommend Dieppe to anyone who's looking for a welcoming break from the day to day and the ferry from Newhaven is great value (especially for foot passengers) and convenient.

This was my second visit to Dieppe in 2 years. I love the huge market with great choice of fresh food from local farms including cheeses, honey, fruit and veg, plus an array of non food items including clothes and hardware; the Cafe des Tribunaux with its fine art deco interior and good tables in the sun out front for people watching and making new friends; and the beautiful Eglise Saint Jacques. Fantastic Moules Marinieres at Tout Va Bien on the attractive Quai Henri IV, and delicious gourmet fish lunch at Bistrot des Barrieres. Convenient shuttle bus from the ferry terminal to Dieppe railway station. Another visit needed to explore the castle and beaches!

First visit and would definitely return. It's very easy to explore on foot. Great variety of shops, bars and restaurants, Two of our favourite restaurants were Le Garden and La Musardiere on the quayside. The cathedrals were stunning. The old town across the bridge was well worth a visit. Visit a quirky little cafe/bar called Mieux ici qu'en face, full of old radios. The beach is sandy at low tide and the promenade has plenty of seating and food and drink kiosks. Great mini golf course. Exploring the coast either side is also worth it. Pretty villages and lovely beaches.

Dieppe is a gorgeous traditional Normandy town with a fairytale castle (free to visit, but closed Mondays and Tuesdays), a lovely port, lots of good eateries, beautiful architecture and wonderful history - especially from WW2. Its market was voted the best in France in 2020. It's easy to get to from the Newhaven ferry (very convenient from London and the southern counties) and there's a direct motorway connection to Paris.

Dieppe isn't especially fancy and there aren't dozens of cultural attractions, but it's a lovely little town, very accessible and friendly. Easy to walk between the beach/ castle/ harbour and main shopping area. The castle and the grounds are free (with lovely views) with the museum inside that's about 6.50 euros. You can buy a ticket for 8 euros to visit several different museums. We loved that we didn't see any MacDonalds or Starbucks, just lots of small independent shops and cafes. Plenty of things for younger children including the tourist train and a carousel by the harbour. The beach is beautiful at low tide and there is a nice children's playground alongside the promenade. I think it might be a struggle to entertain children on a rainy day, as there are few indoors facilities. The ferry is about 25 mins walk to the other side of the harbour where the main town is, and it's a bit of a rough surface for wheelie trolleys in some parts, though no hills. There is a bus from the ferry port to the railway station (you can pay in cash) but it leaves quite promptly so we saw quite a few people miss it.

Shops and restaurants are great, especially La Musardiere, La Releve, the New Haven and the Ty Breiz on the harbour front and Le Cafe des Tribunaux in the Town Centre. The countryside around is fantastic so try to visit Varengeville (the chapel on the cliffs where Georges Braque is buried and also Le Manoir d'Ango) and Veules-les-Roses (a village twinned with Alfriston in East Sussex and very much like it!) While in Dieppe, park on the seafront - it is free and there are usually plenty of spaces.

Dieppe is a pleasant port town & we found the locals very friendly. It's good to see working fishing boats & fishermen selling their catch on the Quay daily. December is not the best time to visit, but most of the restaurants were still open & there's a good variety. For a 3 course lunch, without drinks, you can pay anything from 19euros per person to 60+. We ate at a e27 restaurant & a e19 tabac/bar/resto & both were excellent value. The beach is long & sandy. There are plenty of independent shops & smaller supermarkets in the centre & most of the major ones within a few minutes drive.

It's the kind of place to just relax and take your time to enjoy the tranquility. Easy to go everywhere on foot. After crossing the drawbridge (Pont Ango) from the town centre, It's just a short walk (20-30 minutes) to reach the Notre-Dame de Bon Secours which sits on a hilltop with one of the best views of the port. Easy to find good seafood, though do bear in mind a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays - highly recommend Comptoir à Huître, bit remote but worth the walk. Do get up early on days 2/4/6 to check out the market along the Grand Rue, as most stores close around noon.

Have been to Dieppe many times previously and love it. Lovely views, next to the harbour and sea, great choice of restaurants, although we are addicted to Le Tout Va Bien, which suits us perfectly. The only downside at the moment is that the main bridge for easy access to the sea front and harbour is closed. I gather work is 10 months behind schedule, and the tortuous diversion for motorists is very poorly signposted..:(

A charming coastal town perfect for a short getaway. Dieppe offers a beautiful mix of seaside charm, local culture, and relaxed French hospitality. The Saturday market is an absolute must-visit, with fantastic local delicacies, fresh produce, and lovely stalls that really capture the spirit of the town. The pebble beach is beautiful, and a stroll along the pier is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the sea views. One of the added bonuses is that Rouen is only a short train ride away and makes for a great day trip, full of history, beautiful architecture, and lovely cafés. Whether for a weekend escape or a relaxing few days away, Dieppe is definitely worth visiting.

The cafés and restaurants all serve local fare, but if you're self-catering, the market and Carrefour shops in the centre have all you need to make some interesting meals. The little shops are excellent with lots of local souvenirs, but they're quite pricey. The castle is well worth a visit, including an amazing art gallery and information about the history of the Dieppe region. There's also plenty to do in the surrounding area and some guides are available for interesting themed walks around the town. A pity the Pont Colbert is out of service as this causes lots of wasted time crossing the estuary.

great for a short break we took the ferry as foot passengers as you don't need a car ,ferry goes right into town .15 -25 min walk into town restaurants everywhere, good prices, go on a Saturday and take a walk round the biggest market you've ever seen

Plenty of things to spend a couple of days on in Dieppe and excellent transport links to Rouen, Paris etc Lots of good value restaurants, supermarkets and excellent Saturday market. Would highly recommend a visit to Parc de Cleres in Cleres (40mins on train and 5 min walk from station).

Chateau museum closed Monday and Tuesday. 6.5 euro admission charge, but worth visiting. Lovely 12-14 century church free to visit. Motor boat rides from the harbour approx 14 euros for about 45 mins out and back, but commentary only in French. Moules frites from about 15 euros at many restaurants. Cheap hot dog and burger stalls along the beach from 3.50 for a hot dog in french bread.

We enjoyed walking around and enjoying the old buildings. We like that it’s a port and you can walk around the harbour and you are close to the beach and the high street. Furthermore, it is also close to the train station too so you could venture further. If you arrived by ferry then it is around a half hour walk to the town. Depending how quickly you walk and as soon as you leave the ferry terminal is a large motorway that you can take if you are driving further afield. Seems to be quite a busy fishing g harbour and many of the restaurants around the harbour appear to be seeking fish. We are not big fish people so wouldn’t know where to start. It’s a nice place to visit.

We enjoyed walking round the town - it is small enough to see everything on foot. Our favourite place to eat was L'O 2 Mer where we had wonderful seafood sitting by the window overlooking the beach. We also enjoyed sitting outside the Bar des Tribunaux, enjoying an aperitif and eating mussels. Going further afield we climbed up to the Chapel Notre Dame de Bon Secour at Neuville les Dieppe where there was a superb view of Dieppe.

Dieppe is very pleasant, clean and not overcrowded. Plenty to see and do, however ensure you plan ahead, know what's open and when as we were unfortunate not to be able to visit a the main attractions as there were closed. Plan your parking if travelling by car as the beach parking as exceptionally busy and we have no idea why, so many cars yet appeared to be very few people.

Dieppe is a lovely town with many bars and restaurants by the marina, with old churches, and a chateau all worth visiting besides the walks along the beach.. The local boulangerie just a few metres from Le Perchoir was a wonderful traditional bakery with amazing tartes and croissants and a wide ranges of breads. Took a great boat trip along the coast to Pourville and back, great value for 14 euros! Just a few too many rough sleepers for my liking although they didn't create a nuisance as such.

A lovely setting near the sea and a river running through the town. Many hotels are old buildings with ground floor turned into cafés or restaurants. Lack of lifts to rooms and narrow winding stairs. Interesting shops and places to eat.

I like the atmosphere of the place especially the harbour and the shops are individual and interesting. Lovely churches and castle too. I like practising my French there. I get more practice there than in Paris for example as a lot of people in Dieppe don't speak English.

Dieppe is a very French town with many independent shops and a great place to sit in cafes in the sunshine and watch the world go by. There was industrial action which closed the bridges over from town to ferry , which was very inconvenient …. But hopefully this is a rare happening. The ton has everything …., independent shops, cafes, lots of restaurants to choose from and a very long promenade to promenade on !

There are plenty of lovely places to eat. Very good food shops if you are self catering. Beautiful clothes shops. Nice beach. Castle is really good and worth a visit. Marina, very pretty with lots of cafes and restaurants along the front. Great place to stop if you are travelling to France and catching the ferry. We stayed there for two days but could have stayed longer - will definitely be going back

Dieppe is a town steeped in Medieval history and Gothic buildings. Cathedrals and churches which are beautiful. Dieppe is very expensive for food and drink especially. French people seem very polite and friendly and greet you with a smile... The food in various places was a bit disappointing for French Quisine. They do not cater for vegetarian diners very well... I am an English trained certified classic Chef who was taught to cook in the style of French Quisine and as such was often a little shocked that pomme fries were served up with almost at every meal and a lack of vegetables to accompany the order. No Dauphinoise potatoes or other potatoe dishes offered on menus. Shocked at chips everywhere. I myself am a former professional Classic trained French style Chef Surprised at the limited choice of Menu at the Cafe Les Tribuneux. One of the most famous restaurants in Dieppe.. Overall a friendly hustly bustly little town oozing with plenty of charm good atmosphere & hospitality. I would still recommend Dieppe as a nice place to visit for travellers. There is a great Fruit and Vegetable market on Saturdays also farmers selling fresh cheeses and other produce. The market also sells clothes and leather goods, bags & purses. Etc...

I arrived pretty late on a Friday evening, reception staff were very helpful (both in the evening and next morning), gave me the info I needed, and they have a storage space for bikes. Room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, lift from reception. Breakfast was very good, excellent value, would thoroughly recommend. Just a note, if cycling from the ferry to the hotel (or anywhere in Dieppe), use the car route from Google, NOT the cycle route

A very quirky, interesting, individual ground floor apartment, ideally situated for the ferry port in Dieppe. Easy parking in a free public car park opposite. Owner was on hand to meet and greet us and he also prepared a lovely breakfast for us in the morning. Couldn't fault it

Very convenient for early morning Dieppe to UK sailing. 10 minutes drive. Free parking outside after 7pm. The hotel was a short walk to the harbour where there were plenty on restaurants and cafes.
