Mercure Figeac Viguier du Roy has a restaurant, seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a bar and shared lounge in Figeac. The building and gardens are excellent, as is the location. There are many restaurants around the area. The hotel restaurant was full but looked good. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Staff were very polite and helpful. Room was clean and had all one would need. The room also had a balcony overlooking the square. We also used the car parking which was a few moments away.

Le Relais de la Tour, Hôtel des Bains, and Hôtel Le Quatorze got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Figeac.
Many families visiting Figeac loved staying at Hôtel Le Quatorze, Mercure Figeac Viguier du Roy, and Le Relais de la Tour.
Figeac is one of the small towns in the center of France with a long history behind. The town center and the old houses are unfortunately occupied by squats and too many men with dogs are sitting around at the corners of the historic center. Another very disturbing point: If you want to park your car on one of the outdoor parking areas, you'll have to download first the special app required to get in and out, and then, submit your @ and the data of your bank account. Hackers just have to clear up. But...there are also very nice hotels and guest rooms, half a dozen of good restaurants where the landlords and cooks are doing their best. By the end of August, it will be hard to get a table during the week, because except the weekends they are closed.
Once in Figeac it is really easy to walk about. There is a great market on saturday mornings and would recommend the cafe Champolion for a coffee or hot chocolate. Great ambiance and lots of narrow streets to explore.
I highly recommend following and walking the Office de Tourisme map with its useful descriptions of historic sites for a visual and intellectual feast. The Musée Champollion is a must see visit located in its splendid Place containing the very good restaurant Le Seth for an alfresco lunch. Similarly La Cuisine du Marché for an excellent dinner with a touch of Spain.
The town is a mass of wonderful old medieval buildings, many beautifully renovated. You can go at your own pace, making a round tour of the town in 1-hour using the detailed map provided by the Tourist Office. There are also signs discreetly marked on the buildings to help. So much to see and plenty of eating places and shops around several squares.
Small and easy to walk around yet convenient for the other attractions of Lot and Cele valleys. Found a super wine bar on the walk into town centre and visited it 3 times as the cheese and wine were so good and the host was so welcoming and helpful! Restaurants are very busy so book. We enjoyed the writing museum although needed English translation which was provided.
Lovely medieval town, walks and buildings well worth the visit. The museums are good, interesting. Great market too. Restaurants are varied so there is plenty of choice and the prices very competitive. The drawbacks were that there is nowhere to take shelter from the sun or the rain unless you go to a museum or a cafe; there are very few seats where the weary traveller can rest. You can get around everywhere on foot so no need for a car, and the river adds to the charm of the town.
The owner and his wife were amazing! They helped us way more than we could ever have expected, including setting up an appointment to get a PVR test taken. The owners wife speaks perfect English and made our life so easy. Breakfast was delightful. We had stayed in the hotel several years ago, but the change of ownership in the interim was apparent!
