Le Diablo d'Thyme restaurant had great food but we struggled with the French language here and in several other venues. Very few restaurants were open on a Saturday evening or Sunday. Rennes is not really a tourist destination. Top tip is to take the scheduled bus service to Mont St Michel for a day.

I lived in Rennes in 1975 and have often returned for work reasons. My last visit had been pre-covid. The center of town underwent a massive upgrade in the 1980s and is now walkable and charming. The city has many fine restaurants and quality shops, as well as a good art museum and a lively cultural scene [in normal times]. If you have a rental car, you can easily take day trips to many fun locations about an hour's drive away. SNCF has train service to the Dinard-St-Malo area; if you go to that area, by all means take the little boat shuttle between the two cities [much faster than driving]. Dinan, close to them, has amazing city walls and plenty of old houses. Dinard has a lovely seaside walkway and monstrous high tides from the Bay of Mount St Michel. Brittany's seaside is a renowned vacation area, but the inland parts - like Rennes - are underappreciated.

The old part of the city is lovely to walk around... Thabor Park as well... The newer parts are a bit lacking in personality. Seemed like good food was hard to find. Unless you have personal reasons or business there, I'd say one day is the right amount for touristic purposes

This is my fifth visit to Rennes. I love being there. There are lovely parks and walks to enjoy; museums and the Musee de Beaux Arts. There are train journeys to St. Malo, Vitre; all very close. Some wonderful restaurants offering a great variety of food.

The staff was exceptionally helpful, assisting me (in French) to make phone calls, and printing tickets. The neighborhood was a nice assortment of restaurants, etc. The walk to Parc Thabor was about 15 minutes. The Parc Thabor is relaxing, peaceful, beautiful, and restorative.

Big bathroom, great shower, lovely details. The bed could be more comfortable (the sofa bed too). The stairs up to the apartment are narrow and could be cleaner. But great address!
