Excellent room and comfortable beds. Delightful gardens. Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. Excellent and good value dinner at the restaurant. Lovely pool of good size and well suited for young kids.

Pure perfection! We had a ground floor room, with the perfect view of the Loire and the château. A gorgeous, cosy, but not small room with a beautiful timbered ceiling. The shower room and toilet are separate, so that's a bonus. Breakfast if served in the troglodyte breakfast room. Something that adds to the quirky charm of this hotel. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant across the road. Equally highly recommended.

Hostellerie La Croix Blanche is located opposite the Fontevraud Abbey in the heart of the Loire Valley, a Unesco World Heritage Site, 15 minutes from Saumur and Chinon.

Best place I stayed in during this trip. I could live here :-) Beautiful, quiet, spacious and nicely decorated studio. Comfortable bed, huge bathroom with great shower. All the supplies you could ask for (coffee/tea, shampoo etc, good wifi, even Netflix) On top of that I got a delicious breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, different kinds of bread. Very friendly owners live nextdoor. Could park my bike safely in their shed. A few minutes walk to the abbey, which is very much worth taking a few hours to visit.

Everything we needed was there, the host was lovely and so helpful, and it is in a very peaceful, quiet location but just a 10 minute walk from the Abbaye at Fontevraud.

L'Hostellerie de La Licorne, a property with a garden, is set in Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, 15 km from Château des Réaux, 16 km from Saumur Train Station, as well as 21 km from Château de Chinon.
