A living piece of St Antonin history, traditionally and tastefully decorated. Great central location in this pretty village on the river with beautiful architecture, shops and dining (check out Les Halles on Market Day (Sunday), Pied à Terre for gifts old and new, and Zoga for a tasty burger with homemade sauce!). Well equipped with a great shower despite being in the "cave"!

Postcard perfect village on the banks of the Aveyron river at the foot of a gorge. Easy to navigate and a hive of artisan shops, food and local producers. Have a wander round the town, browse shops like Pied à Terre for curiosities for home and garden, enjoy a drink at Guinguette La Plage by the weir and top it off with an al fresco burger at Zoga or pizza by Les Halles. Walk, cycle or kayak it all off the next day!
Wonderful ancient city with enough modern to exceed comfort expectations and enough ancient to be immersed in. Market day was exceptional in people, variety and quality. Came based on the movie 100 Foot Journey and people/town exceeded expectations! We were ahead of high travel season and that was a benefit.
Buildings and bridges that have been around since the 11th century, people leaning out their windows to yell "bonjour!" as you pass, the town center where everyone congregates in the afternoon, the foreigners playing chess and listening to jazz music that wafts through their open door and out onto the cobblestone street at night... I have traveled to a few Medieval towns before, but this was by far the most enchanting place I have ever been. I can't wait to return.
Saint-Antonin apparently houses lots of (British) (former) hippies, and of course it's full of the often horrible arts and crafts shops that come with relatively touristic towns - BUT over all Saint-Antonin is an extremely friendly place. Quite mondaine, even, for French countryside standards. It has some nice brocante places to nose around in. The whole town is a bit of an open air museum. Read a bit on the English Wikipedia to get an idea of the hysterical history of the place. I'd recommend dinner at Le festin du Babette - I also recommend the eponymous film (Babette's feast) while I'm at it. Nice town to hang around in for a day or two. We stayed at La Résidence, an excellent B&B.
Au Troubadour is located in a charming XIVth cerntury house alongside other architecturals monuments. The furnishings have very authentic vintage look, yet are clean and in perfect working condition. It was a great opportunity to feel the atmosphere of medieval town from inside. The hotel owner Sophie is very nice and speaks perfect English. The breakfast served in a cozy terrace garden was also very enjoyable.
The hosts were very helpful and pointed out the best things to see and explore in the area. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel itself is a 16th century building with a lot of character. We very much enjoyed our stay in this hotel and in the town of Saint Antonin Noble Val, which is a very nice area. The hosts also offer cycling trips, which we may return for at some point!
