The property was even better than the photos showed. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The beds were comfortable, with decent pillows. The fully enclosed garden was fabulous as we had 4 big puppies with us!! I would definitely return.

The hotel was just what we were looking for as two pilgrims on the Francigena. The hostess was extremely nice and accommodating, providing us with every necessity (even a lift to the nearby supermarket). The dinner was made with love: warm and wholesome. The room was large and airy, as was the bathroom. All in all, we felt at home in the perfect place to recover from our long walk.

This is a lovely cosy little place in a nice area 30 minutes from Calais. The hostess was very welcoming and helpful and even though we had made a mistake with the booking she quickly sorted it out for us. We had a great stay and will always try to book here again when passing through.

A quiet village, rural surroundings.

A quiet village, rural surroundings. The Manoir is well signposted and a motorist is within easy reach of routes to and from Calais. I myself have only used the Manoir for one-night stops, but if you wanted to make it a centre for a longer holiday, it would work well; a straightforward drive to the coast and some pleasant countryside. Some of the rooms at the Manoir have cooking facilities if you need them, while the sensibly-priced restaurant is available every night except Monday.

The property is in a pleasant countryside location with ample space for parking. The auberge is next door to the accommodation so meals are convenient and good value. We used our stay as a stopover on our route back to the UK, but it would also suit families staying for longer.

Didn't see much of Surques, as it is quite a dispersed kind...

Didn't see much of Surques, as it is quite a dispersed kind of village, but it was quiet and pleasantly rural and feels safe. The Manoir has a pleasant restaurant with characterful panelling (17th century?) - which gives it a nice old-fashioned atmosphere.

This property is in the commune of Surques but not in the...

This property is in the commune of Surques but not in the centre of the village. Because it gets dark early in November, I had no real chance to explore, but it's in a quiet rural location and a good place for a breath of country air. Personally, I would give the property 5 stars rather than 3; it had everything I wanted for a break in my journey into France and back to England. When next I go, the days will be longer and I think I'll also be able to enjoy a good walk after being stuck in the car.

Surques itself has little to offer, however the surrounding countryside is very pleasant and the accommodation had leaflets describing various walks. La Coupole is worth visiting, though dogs are not allowed.

Everything was first class.

Everything was first class. Fabulous room, great facilities, lovely host,delicious food, great location. I can’t rate it highly enough. Easily the best accommodation we have had for the price. An exceptional manor.
