I stayed at this hotel in Val Cenis over the Christmas break while on a snowboarding trip with a friend, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. It’s a very friendly, family-run hotel, and everyone was incredibly welcoming and accommodating from start to finish. The room was spotless, with daily housekeeping, and felt modern and comfortable. We also had a beautiful balcony, which was a lovely bonus. Small touches really made the stay special — we were provided with mugs and spoons along with a kettle, so we could make hot drinks in our room after a long day on the slopes. The shower was perfect, with great water pressure and temperature, exactly what you want after snowboarding all day. The lift was only about a 5-minute walk away, which made getting to and from the slopes really easy. The views from the hotel were stunning, especially in the evening with the fire pit lit — it created such a cosy and scenic atmosphere. There was also a secure storeroom for snowboarding equipment, which was very convenient. We used the sauna one night, and it was easy to book through the front desk and a great way to relax. Honestly, there aren’t many cons to mention at all. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Val Cenis for a winter sports trip.

I went to Termignon on recommendation of a hiking guidebook.

I went to Termignon on recommendation of a hiking guidebook. It's a very good base for exploring the Maurienne valley as it's roughly situated at the midpoint. Lanslebourg (up the valley), and Aussois & Modane (down the valley) have more amenities than Termignon, but it has the essentials. Moreover, it's easy to get to the others by bus or car. There are numerous trails to hike or mountain bike. There are also several via ferratas in the valley, from easy (F) to extremely difficult (ED), many concentrated at Fort Victor Emmanuel. Besides the valley itself, there's also the Vanoise National Park and Lac Mont Cenis that are well worth exploring. If you're up for a challenge there's the Tour of the Vanoise Glaciers - the mountain huts (refuges) are excellent but you need to book in advance as they are very popular.

I liked the tranquility of the place and the access to other...

I liked the tranquility of the place and the access to other stations in the Val Cenis area. However you need a car as there no effective shuttle service. I was touched by the Pleureuse memorial to the First War dead.

The hotel is charming and situated right in the centre of Termignon, just a few metres from the ski shop and the ski lifts. The staff are very attentive and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. The breakfast was excellent and the quality of the food in the restaurant is superb and has a great atmosphere. L’Outa is such a good addition to the quaint village of Termignon

It’s absolutely perfect! Friendly, cosy, comfortable and perfect for our ski holiday. The restaurant on site is amazing too and definitely highly recommend! Parking, a room to store ski gear - everything you need. It’s also walking distance (less than 5 mins) to the Termignon ski lifts! We hope to come back asap as we loved it so much.

This is a traditional ski/mountain hotel set in the high Alps. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was well-equipped and comfortable. Despite the formal restaurant being shut, we were treated to a set, three course meal of a very high standard, delicious. So good, we will return when the restaurant is available.
