What fun! The Du Lac family were one of the original wizarding families in this part of France, with Isabel Du Lac being one of the founders of Beauxbatons in 1264. Over time they became connected through several marriages to the Black family in England. Sirius often spent his summer holidays here. We were greeted by the family house elf, with a large black dog gambolling behind her (really!).. On the way to our room, the Du Lac + Black family tree was painted on the wall. The Grey Lady was spending her summer here too, wearing a straw hat. Despite its superficial resemblance to Malfoy Manor, it's now a friendly welcoming and comfortable place.

This is the fourth time I have stayed here and it is one of my favourite hotels in France. Gerard and Nadege welcomed me warmly and were equally happy to converse in French or English. My room was quite beautifully decorated and well appointed and I had a lovely little private balcony/terrace. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and I slept very well. I was very lucky in that on the evening I stayed there was a special tasting menu with matching wines from a producer in Faugeres who was there to conduct a tutored tasting. The breakfast here is one of the best I have had in France with a wide selection available. The Chateau de Siran is a haven of quiet, comfort, luxury and good food and is well worth the cost of staying there. I cannot recommend it too highly.

Situated in Laure-Minervois, in a historic building, 50 km from Abbaye de Fontfroide, Domaine de Palats is a recently renovated country house with pool with a view and garden.

The best place we have stayed in a very long time!The location was incredible. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We came as a family of four (2 and 4 year old) and the whole family were so lovely and welcoming from the minute we arrived to when we left. The room was immaculate and so spacious, all of the linen and pillows were of great quality and super comfy. The breakfast was amazing, the dinner was clearly lovingly prepared and delicious. We booked two nights instead of one due to the reviews and we are so very glad we did. Hopefully we will be coming back again.

We only stayed for 2 nights for a wedding but the B&B was perfect. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was an air conditioning unit which we appreciated. Bathroom was also a very good size. The host family were welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was nice; a good selection of breads, pastries, jams, meat and cheese etc. Good location, we took a bus from Carcassone and the B&B was a short walk from the station and also close to local amenities. All in all, five star.

Set in Laure-Minervois, 48 km from Abbaye de Fontfroide, La Cigaline has a terrace, parking on-site and rooms with free WiFi access. The Cavayere Lake is within 19 km of the bed and breakfast.
