Val Thorens is a superb resort for late season skiing. We ski at the end of March / beginning of April and whenever we have been to VT, the snow condition has been fantastic. With over 150km of slopes and the possibility to ski to other resorts like Orelle, there are always new routes to explore. VT has plenty of quality restaurants and entertainment such as bowling, swimming and tobogganing making it ideal for families with children of any age.
This is the very best of the best when it comes to picking a resort, I have visited VT to ski for 45 years and it never disappoints, it is snow sure, when it is super cold, take three lifts and a ski and you can drop down to Meribel which is always about 5-8 degrees warmer, the Russians have all gone now and it’s back to being used by friendly skiers, I really believe this is the best ski area and resort in Europe.
Val Thorens really is one of the best resorts in France, perfect for all skiers from beginners to more advanced. The slopes are long wide and you have a variety of runs to choose from. It’s also got great access to other resorts within the 3 valleys which means you can never get bored. Loads of bars and restaurants to choose from all within walking distance of your hotel or apartment.
There are lots of runs and lifts, so you rarely have to queue for more than two minutes, even at the start and end of the day. The resort is the highest in Europe, so is the most snow-sure in the Alps, yet is easily accessible by road. The Three Valleys ski area is amazing, and highly recommended.
Val Thorens is an incredible ski resort with great facilities, bars and restaurants. If you want some of the best views and skiing in the world book yourself a trip there and enjoy a great dinner at 2 Lac restaurant on the slopes with a taxi ride there and back in a priest basher. Awesome.
The resort is a nice size and beautifully located high up in the Alps. Restaurants and bars are all good but expensive. Plenty to do and see and lots of accommodation options. Loved La Cabene restaurant and also The Scandinavian Wine Bar. The Red Fox pub was a find too and not very crowded. The Igloo is worth a visit for a few photos. We did the evening Cosmojet Taboggan run and I would not recommend for children under 14 years. It's very long and it's very tiring! Caution....We booked Swiss Taxi (also Connecto Transfers) for our airport transfer. They cancelled five minutes before pick up and we all missed our flights home Book a local return transfer to the airport.
Val Thorens
The staff was very unaccommodating. We had a guest who was told he could not stay with us because our room wasn’t big enough and they could not give us a bigger room. We were told “you will have to figure it out!”... We asked for a late check out and were told no! We had dirty blankets which they would not exchange and instead had us wash them ourselves for 10 euros in the laundry (way too expensive!!) The elevators were extremely slow and stopped at every floor every time! Took 20 min to get in and out of the hotel.
Val Thorens
The location is amazing. You sleep on top of the mountain next to two ski lifts. You’ll be the first on the slope and in the lifts. The walk back and forth to Val Thorens is only 20 minutes and a great little adventure every day. Once you’ve left the town and are walking across a dark piste you can see more stars than you ever see in the city. The people who work there are super nice and will bring you to town, or pick you up, with their snow scooters if you want.
Val Thorens
The self catering residence was in a quieter area of resort, but access to shops and bars was good. It was ski in-ski out (but only from one slope, which required a little planning at the end of the day). The boot room was well organised and secure and the staff were helpful. It was fairly basic, but had all the essentials. We thought it was good value for money and would use it again.
Great location in Val Thorens and right at the finish line of the etape du tour. Good restaurant and service and everyone was super friendly. The service was slick and acted like they were open all summer rather than just for the weeks around the tour de France. Great breakfast. Spectacular views from the terrace. I would definitely go back in winter!
Great location with ability to ski from and to the door. Apartment was on the end of the block so not noisy at all, and located in the top of Val Thorens. Plus view out over the slopes! Apartment is equipped with everything you need. And owners really helpful. Great value for an apartment in Val Thorens. Would definitely stay there again.
Val Thorens
Apartments are very well located for slopes and lifts with true ski in/ski out access. Easy access to resort for restaurants, shops, and sports facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Supermarket in building is great for self catering and fresh bread and pastries in the morning. Great views of slopes and mountains.
Val Thorens
We stayed at Valbel. Very nicely renovated. Comfortable space for 3-4 people. Beautiful Mountain view from the balcony. True ski-in/ski-out. Warm ski room allows to keep the hotel rooms clean - no mopping required. People at reception desk were very friendly and helpful.
This is a really stylish hotel which runs so smoothly. The ski hire shop is in the hotel, there are a few different places to eat and the staff couldn’t do enough to help us. Facilities were great and it has a very relaxed atmosphere.
Val Thorens
Excellent ski-in ski-out location. The staff at the reception was friendly and very efficient both for check in and out. Linen and towels are provided in the room.
Ski to door access, mountain view, fully equipped kitchen, gear storage, walking distance to everything.

Val Thorens
We had a lovely stay at Rosaël, the duplex room was spacious, had a large balcony and the kitchen was well equipped. The location of the chalet was great, with ski in and ski out, opposite a groceries shop and right in the town. The ski hire shop was in the property and well organised which was handy. You could also order pastries and fresh bread every morning from reception which was a bonus. Finally the staff were lovely and gave us free beers!
