Beautiful town! If you are visiting the palace I recommend hiring one of the golf buggies to see the gardens, you need your driving licence with you, €38/hour and €9.50 per extra 10 mins. We took our time going round, stopped at a few places for fresh squeezed orange juice (they have little carts at various locations) and paid a total of €57 which we felt was good value, everyone felt it was a real highlight, having the independence, and you also have a guide talking to you as you go round on a recording in the vehicle.
We visited Versailles over 3 days - the Trianon Estate on Thursday afternoon, the chateau on Friday and the musical fountains on the Saturday. We did the tour of the King’s private appartments before the general tour and this was excellent . We loved the Opera house. The musical fountain show was a must see. We had tea and amazing pastries at Angelina’s and we ate lunch at La Floatilla’s which I highly recommend.
The gardens at the Palace of Versailles are very impressive. The Palace was also impressive but was too busy to be enjoyable. Either go first thing before the hordes arrive or after 3pm when it has quietened down a bit.
The Palace Will blow you away. It’s so beautiful, it will literally leave you stunned and wanting to stay longer. The palace is stunning but must do a tour of the highlights to make it interesting. The grounds are something else, could spend my entire holiday there. Can hire golf buggies to get around from down near the ground camel €38 for an hour or bikes. As it’s so vast. Take a picnic or use the restaurants. We were there on a very busy weekend so queues were long, be patient, it’s worth it. Not much shade if hot to umbrella is a good shout. Also the town is equally is lovely & worth walking round. Whatever time you think it will take you, double it.
April 7, 2023. It took us about 4 hours (2:00-6:00) to visit the palace, not including the gardens, where we spent another 2 hours and are an absolute must see. Tips: Pre-buy the tickets . Visit later in the afternoon so the bigger morning crowds are gone by later afternoon . The palace closes at 6:00pm, the gardens close at 7:00 (groves) & the main garden at 8:00 so leave the gardens for the end of day when the palace is already closed. By this point it’s dinner time so head into the Place Du Marche (downtown) for some great food. We actually booked a hotel in Versailles for the night night and left the following day straight to the airport, which is about 45 minutes away which was much better than having to drive back to Paris the same day. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see le petit Trianon (the queens palace) but we could’ve had we started visit there at 11 AM when they open
I love staying in towns off from a big city. Versailles was wonderful without the crowds…I visited the chateau on a Wednesday not crowded at all. Met someone on a train, she went Thursday and said it was very crowded. Overall Versailles was wonderful. Took a day trip to Rambouillet which is on the Paris Museum Pass. Easy and convenient.
Very pleasant and helpful staff, always had a smile. Location was fantastic for visiting the Palace and also for catching the RER into Paris centre. A very efficient hotel so that everything was minimal, but it did its job. I liked the breakfast even though it looked basic at first, but there was more than enough to eat from a decent selection of foods. Underground parking felt secure. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent.
The style was very elegant and authentic. It fits being in the historical district, but at the same time amenities were updated. The only thing is that I was not aware that there was no A/C, but once I opened up all the windows we were able to get a nice new w specially at night. The location is awesome, very close from Versailles Palace, but could be a bit noisy in the morning as you are in the center of the hustle and bustle.
Versailles
Great location in a quiet area yet within walking distance to The Palace of Versailles, the train stations to Paris and lots of bars and restaurants. Lovely outdoor market also in walking distance a few days a week. The property was very well presented and comfortable just what we needed for seeing Versailles and Paris it was all very easy. Very helpful host that couldn’t do enough for us.
This hotel was very close to Palace of Versailles (walking distance). The room was very big and the bathroom was big. All the staff was excellent especially the ladies at the front desk. The breakfast was excellent. I also liked that you could get water bottle refilled from kitchen staff. The property had a cute courtyard where we sat and enjoyed our wine.
Versailles
Really impressed with Huttopia 1st time staying at one of these campsites. We had an amazing stay very relaxing and welcoming. Fantastic location just shot bus journey to the palace of Versailles or a train to Paris both the bus stop and train station were a 10in walk away. Will definitely be staying at a Huttopia site again.
Near cafes and quiet street. Good air con. Hotel room had a kettle bar fridge and single chair. We felt welcome to use the roomy common area for our takeout lunch and if a desk table was needed. Lift available. Staff formal but helpful when asked and able to mail our postcards and store our luggage while we went sightseeing
Ideal location close to dozens of restaurants and Versailles palace. Charismatic boutique hotel. Small but comfy room. Small fan included for the heat. No AC but didn't get too hot. Our room faced the courtyard and was extremely quiet, even with the window open, even though the hotel was full.
The location of this hotel is excellent if you are visiting the Palace of Versailles. It is also close to many restaurants, so your food choices are great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even let my family store our bags while we visited the Palace after our stay.
