I loved the location - right in the old town centre, on top of a hill overlooking the see. I loved my room with a sea view and charming little balcony, it is freshly renovated and modern, perfect size for me. A really nice quiet garden outside and a beautiful Maine coone cat called “Oups”. :) Virginie who runs the receptionist the nicest, most friendly, welcoming and helpful person ever. Thank you Virginie!

We absolutely loved the penthouse. It was beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped. It is quite high up on the hill so be prepared for that. The views are absolutely stunning!!! We stayed six nights, and they were our favorite part of our 35 day trip to Scotland and France. The balcony is immense and the views at different times of the day and night were magical. We did not want to leave. We had some trouble getting the door unlocked the first time, (pull back slightly to get it unlatched), but the property manager responded quickly and came to help us. It was an adventure figuring out how best to go down to, and get back up from the town center at first, but with some help from the Tourist Info. center, we learned how to use the little bus, #80, which helped a great deal! Otherwise it is 475 steps which takes some stamina! Our bus driver was so friendly and kind, he was a real pleasure to get to know. This place is amazing, we highly recommend it!

Really beautiful, colourful and small city and not so many people. Really nice cafes, we liked the most La Caravelle. It was easy to getting around because of really good train traffic. Train station was just 7 minutes from main places from Villefranche.

Restaurant options are great, and the port area and old city are very human scale for walking and exploring. Some nice small shops. We were there at the height of the season, so everything tended to be more congested than we would have liked during peak hours. Bus lines and the train station allow connections to other French Riviera locations without the need to rent a car, as long as one is willing to use public transportation - easy to learn with available apps.

A great little town with a good atmosphere and plenty of choices for dining. Waterfront area and in the old town behind has many restaurants. Lots to do in the surrounding area. Being on the Trainline if you’re without a car it’s easy to go up and down the coast.

Soooooooooo many stairs everywhere!
Soooooooooo many stairs everywhere! But, Villefranche is absolutely beautiful. It's easy to get to other cities and the walk to Nice, although about 1.5 hours, is very beautiful. You can go through your entire wardrobe in early May since it is is cool in the morning and in the shade and hot in the afternoon. Always carry change with you for public bathroom in Villefranche and the surrounding cities. Definitely get the pavlova at Les Garcons!

Villefranche-sur-Mer is a lovely, out of the hustle & bustle of cities with interesting historical and nature sites nearby. For the "magnifique appartement" the outdoor terrace, availability of a few coffee pods in the apartment, and affordable pricing for the Cote d'Azur were most likeable.
What is unlikeable includes the dark entrance and hallway, sticky floors, dust everywhere, dank smell, dirty silverware and pots, lumpy, foam bed with worn linen, metal sofa bed, dying plants, unworking floor lamp, lack of information for how to use any appliances (no toaster was to be found in any of the overcrowded-with-random-cookware cupboards), stale spices, worn towels, lack of toilet, tissue and paper towels, remote location, difference between images in listing and actual furnishings, space and amenities.

We had a Superior room on the top floor, with two windows overlooking the sea and the adjoining bastion. Not very big, but clean, comfortable and with a good bathroom.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, one of the best I have seen in French hotels. Staff were friendly and professional.
Many celebrities stayed at the hotel in the old days, such as poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic Jean Cocteau, who decorated the chapel across from the hotel.
The Provençal is a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the front at Villefranche sur mer. It’s outside areas have been greatly improved to create pleasant sitting and relaxing areas. A very good breakfast is included in the price and can be taken in the garden. Many rooms have fabulous sea views.
This is a beautiful property with arguably one of the best waterfront locations in Villefranche. We were within 5 minutes’ walk of everything that we needed and some fabulous waterfront restaurants. The owner sent us really clear and helpful instructions and was responsive to our questions.
A simple but charming cafe and hotel with a local feel. Rooms are ample and everything was perfectly comfortable and clean. It's also a great base for exploring Villefranche-Sur-Mer, about ten minutes walk to the waterfront.
The new owners are working hard to make this a friendly little hotel in Villefranche. Charlotte and her partner were very helpful and kind to me. The pool is lovely and the room is a decent size.
