We actually stayed at Cardow. Home of cardhu distillery. Rolling countryside and a short distance from the river Spey. Lots of wildlife. Red squirrels, pheasants, rabbits, hare, roe deer and eagles. Just off the spey way so good for cyclists, walkers and we had some kayakers stay whilst we were there. There are no restaurants or pubs within walking distance.
We walked to Craigellachie along the old railway line to view the Telford Bridge. The Speyside Whisky Shop was a revelation as it sold affordable whiskies. Apart from the hotel we ate in the Mashed Tun , a quirky whisky bar & restaurant and in the Craigellachie Hotel. Both were fine.
A great little village/town although the Mash Tun is probably the life and soul. Fine for our two nights but there won't be much else to go to (the other pub looked a bit ropey). Sadly, the Arberlour Distillery was closed to visitors on the days we stayed (maybe due to ChinaVirus?). Ditto, the Walkers factory although their small High St shop was open.
This is a beautiful place to visit right on the river. Lovely walks. Aberlour hotel does nice bar meals and staff are friendly. Mash tun also does evening meals which was where we were staying and it has some outside seating which is lovely to sit at in a nice evening. We went with our son and his girlfriend which was great to have company in the evenings as if the weather was unkind at night then there is really nowhere to go after your evening meal. I however would recommend a visit to this lovely part of the country. It’s stunning. Lots of whisky distilleries for the whisky lovers to visit. Only one tea room that I could find. Walk along river is beautiful.
I grew up round here so will always love it. So nice to visit again too. We came for the Highland Games however, I have recently got a dog and was able to enjoy some lovely woodland walks with him which made our visit even better. The Games were fantastic as always, only this year the weather was the best I think we have ever had it which made it all the more lovely.
Great little town. Old railway station has lovely little visitor centre and coffee shop. Mash Tun restaurant excellent for evening meal. Enjoyed shops, deli and cosy cafes. Walking Speyside Way but Dufftown Spur worth doing from Aberlour.
Aberlour
The location to this property was awesome. Close to shops and the Mash Tun Whisky Bar and the Aberlour Distillery. The property was small but perfect for our family of 5. The larger room had 3 twin beds and our granddaughter slept with her parents while we slept in the queen bed. Temperature in Scotland very different than Florida but we bought wood for the fire stove and we were fine. The comforters were thick and toasty. So much fun! I want to stay here again!
This is a fabulous hotel. I'm kinda scared to tell everyone how good it is, because we want to keep going there. Exceptionally friendly owners and staff. They've got exactly the right vibe of welcoming to tourists and locals. The home cooked traditional style food is brilliant. Breakfast is relaxed. The whole place is spotless, Covid measures taken seriously. Bar has a decent selection of drinks.

Beautifully turned out cottage, wifi was provided and very pleased with that. Fire was laid ready and access to logs was lovely. Two bathrooms great for two couples. Location brill, wildlife in the garden. Taxi from Aberlour £20. Roomy, plenty big enough for 4. Good towels and things like handwash, washing up liquid, salt, pepper oil provided. Double bed comfy.

We were in the Speyside area to visit the distilleries and the location was perfect. It is away from main roads and very quiet. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We also had dinner there one night and it was outstanding. Overall, I think Cardhu House was the best place we stayed for the money during our two-week trip.

Lovely cooked breakfast with a good menu choice set us up for the day. Everything about the B&B was high quality: toiletries, crockery, bedding etc. The room was well lit. it was very quiet so was able to get a good night's sleep. fabulous shower, and surprisingly spacious bathroom.

The Barn is charmingly decorated and very cosy, the kitchen is very well stocked with all you might need for a longer stay, the shower was great and the room very clean. It is in a very good location on the outskirts of Aberlour and very quiet and peaceful.
We had broken down en route to stay here and needed some assistance from the hotel to remain open late and to allow us to store some additional items, this was all done for us from very helpful, obliging people - thank you so much.
