Set in peaceful gardens, this property is only a short drive from the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall and much more. very cool room and old house with antique beds and chairs. Lovely breakfast. You feel like a princess sleeping in those beds!
This family-run, 5-bedroom traditional pub overlooks the River South Tyne. It has traditional cider and cask ales, homemade bar meals and welcoming, friendly staff. this is one of the best properties I’ve ever stayed at. my 10/10 ratings are genuine. everything about the property could not be bettered. The venison pie with potatoes, cabbage and carrots was so good I ordered it throughout my stay. full marks to the Cumberland Inn.
This family-run hotel in tranquil Alston is on the Pennine Way and offers local home-cooked food in an area of outstanding natural beauty that is a paradise for hikers and cyclists. Bed was very comfy, and facilities were great. Breakfast was very welcome, setting me up for the day on the Pennine Way.

'Stokoe Cottage' is set in Alston. Complimentary WiFi is available. The property consists of 1 separate bedroom, 1 bathroom and a living room. The house is superb, the hosts helpful and I thought the provision of dog towels was a very nice touch although I had brought my own. I just wish I could have stayed longer 11/10.
Town View Alston is a luxury apartment set above a little gift shop overlooking the Market Cross and cobblestone main street. The apartment has free WiFi throughout. This studio apartment had everything we required for our short break. It was very clean and well appointed in a lovely central location in the town. On street parking was readily available nearby. Local convenience store was nearby and pub / restuarant a short walk away
Located in Alston in the Cumbria region and Askham Hall reachable within 24 miles, Alston Art Apartments provides accommodations with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a terrace and free private parking. Lovely location among the stone cottages of the old town. Two mins walk from shops and overlooking the church. Spotlessly clean and warm. Host very friendly and helpful with local info. Great center for a walking holiday.
Beautiful little village with such charming shops and houses. A very close knit community and also friendly. The houses/dwellings are full of history and are kept so clean. They have local pubs The Turks Head, which we visited, they have a gorgeous cider called Friels, refreshing on a hot day. They were so kind, as they provided a bowl of water for our 2 little dogs! A local co-op, post office, chippy and kebab house Tonys, we had food from there last night, the pizza and Donner kebab was to die for! Definitely 5 star! The church in the town is the main feature and soaked in history. You can walk to any of these facilities. We found a river side walk out dogs loved it, we spotted a beautiful Shire horse and Shetland pony just grazing in a huge field, the weather was perfect, it has been a delightful break away from busy Blackpool.
We came in the middle of the week, albeit at the end summer holidays, and yet the location felt very quiet and a bit deserted, but we dont mind quiet at all. The town is small but absolutely every singe person said hello and smiled as we walked past them, it was refreshing and lovely and we can’t wait to come back again. We had a great stay at the cottage, it was rustic yet clean. This is a place for going on long walks and having drinks in the pub, loved it.
Great Place to go lots of beautiful countryside and walks to go on local mine nearby with free entry superb hosts who look after you with trips down the mine and knowledge of what happened when did mine was opened
Everything was as we expected and just what we needed. Even tea, milk and coffee waiting for us and delicious chocolate biscuits, so good after a long journey. Taller people beware of low beams! Co op really handy for food, papers, drinks etc. Ate at a pub down the road at the bottom of the village. they were really friendly and we enjoyed our food.
We loved the relaxing atmosphere, the size of our room was brilliant(much larger than we anticipated) with all necessary items. We stayed for evening meal once again excellent,we will definitely be staying again in the future.
If you like sleepy and great to look at you've found it. And if you like glorious countryside and wonderful walks you have - again - found it. After only a few hours we knew we will most definitely be coming back again. Alston is a place to breath slow, reconnect to nature and recharge your batteries. I just hope it stays hidden for a little longer.
We wanted somewhere to relax for a couple of days after walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. The Hideaway was ideal. It is a good size for a couple, centrally located in Alston, near restaurants and pubs. The flat was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. Communication with Ron and Vera was clear and all the arrangements were straightforward.
Hotel in good location, very large rooms with lovely comfortable beds and nice size bathroom. Hotel staff were all very friendly, the bar/restaurant area was very nice and had a relaxing feel about it. The food was good as was the service. Breakfast was a very good standard. Will stay there again when visiting Alston.

Jane was a responsive and helpful host; good communication. Requested yogurt for breakfast, and she provided it. Large space with sofa and table. Good bathroom. Excellent location for those walking the Pennine Way. Alston is a lovely village, too.
The location was great for us as we like walking. The owners lived on site and were friendly and helpful but left us to ourselves. 20 minute walk down into Alston with both individual shops and a good Spar.
Helpful and very friendly owners. Close to Alston facilities. Lovely views. Comfortable rooms. Garden with tables. Restful decor. Will recommend highly. A relaxing beautiful place. Really felt at home

Alston town centre is within walking distance although the range of shops etc is limited. Plenty places to visit if you're happy to drive and some nice local walks.
Great hotel team, made us very welcome, sorted parking for us, and helped with my wife dietary restrictions. Handled COVID rules for guests really professionally
