Plenty of cafes/pubs/restaurants. Friendly people and waiters/waitresses. All very helpful. Unfortunately some places closed for winter refurb but only to be expected. Still plenty of fresh air, walks and boat trip
Ambleside is charming, and interesting to explore is small streets. It has great shops, restaurants and pubs. There are numerous walks from the doorstep and access to the lake. I would recommend the bus service, helpful and friendly drivers providing the cheapest sightseeing tours imaginable. We leave the car and sit back and enjoy the views. Did i mention the pubs ? Great pubs.
Met expectations, visited area many times over the years, the accomadation fulfilled our needs. Ate and drank first night in hotel but found it a bit expensive. Ate and drank in Ambleside remaining nights eg. Fish and chips and local pubs. Can easily walk around ambleside, very compact but interesting little town, would highly recommend
We've been to Ambleside many times. It's one of our favourite places. No matter what the weather, we always find something to do. Mr. H's tearoom comes highly recommended. There are many walks from Ambleside and the view of Windermere from Loughrigg is spectacular (it's a 45 minute walk from the town). If you've younger children they can spend hours in Borrans Park play area.
Very expensive place to stay at for a weekend holiday. Most restaurants charge over £15 for a main course. Drinks in some pubs over £6 a pint. Cafes expensive too - Coffee and cake at Zefferellis at cinema was almost £8. Nice area for walking but too expensive.
Perfectly placed within town just a short stroll to stores etc. I’m Coeliac and had a great experience at The White Lion where I was able to use a tablet to select my allergen and then it let me know exactly what I could have on menu - fantastic! The Ambleside Townhouse was beautiful - rooms great and comfy beds, facilities 👍🏼 Towels were best ever! Breakfast was enjoyable with good selection. Would thoroughly recommend staying here! Also car park was very accessible. Do yourself a favour check it out!
Ambleside
Lovely b&b in a fantastic location with parking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great quality and filled us up for the day. The only reason for our drop in mark for facilities is that it doesn’t have an outside seating area or on site bar facilities which would have been lovely as Ambleside was very busy so being able to come back to the accommodation and sit outside and relax would have been a bonus. Having said that we would not hesitate to return. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Ambleside
I love that the dog friendly rooms have their own entrance & that breakfast is not included so we can choose to support the local cafes in Ambleside. The room was clean, comfortable & warm and had a great view of Loughrigg (before the mist & rain descended anyway!). The staff we’re really friendly & helpful.
The hotel is in a great position and you could be lucky and get a great view. Our room was a little compact and at the back but we could see the hills behind the hotel. I hadn't realised it was dog friendly, and would not have booked if i had, however the dogs were not allowed in the dining room which was a relief.
Ambleside
We couldn't fault this lovely accommodation. The decor was beautiful, gentle colours, soothing with quality fittings. Breakfast was not only delicious but perfectly presented. The hosts could not have been more helpful. We absolutely loved it here and with the background of the Lake District in spring - perfect!

Excellent location, lovely staff - a very enjoyable stay!! Right in the heart of Ambleside. Everything was in walking distant and surrounded by mountains with a beautiful green in front of the property with crazy golf, which the kids loved! Was great to get away, relax and explore the beautiful town too.
Nice, decent size and bright room with spacious bathroom that met our expectations. In the heart of Ambleside, which is a little gem of a town. Whilst the hotel rooms are above the pub and in the town centre, there was very little noise and we had great nights sleep.
