Wateredge Inn stands on the shores of Lake Windermere, a short walk from Ambleside center. Set across two former 17th century fishermen's cottages, it offers cozy bedrooms and period features. Location on lake is as in photos, really beautiful. It is a good walk to main part of town out of lot to left 15 min. We had great pizza in Italian restaurant, "Dodds" I kid you not. We met couple from outside Glasgow at bar waiting for table, and they joined us for dinner. He had fish and she something else. All very good. Run by Italians; who knows where name came from. Good guitar singer on Fri night. Ask about specials. We had high end romonground floor with small Gardena really and seating. -- worth the extra.
This family-run hotel overlooks Lake Windermere and has free parking, free Wi-Fi and fine food. The shops of Ambleside are a 10-minute stroll away. The breakfast was fantastic as was the entire staff.
Set close to Lake Windermere, just a 5-minute walk from Long Wood Bay Watersports Center and a 2-minute drive from Ambleside, Briery Wood Hotel is surrounded by peaceful fields and woodland. Everything! It’s an amazing country house experience.
Nanny Brow offers award-winning accommodations in a period Arts and Craft house located on its own private crag, surrounded by 6 acres of private garden with river and mountain views. The location is absolutely amazing. The owners definitely take pride in both the interior decor and the exterior landscaping. Each room is beautifully decorated with comfortable beds, homemade treats each night, and luxurious toiletries. Each night we fell asleep to the sound of quiet country noises coming from our open window. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts with both buffet items, and to order choices. There are trails around the property for a leisurely stroll, and guides available to venture further afield. Sue was a pleasure to chat with and made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed walking around the town, and taking a boat ride in nearby Coniston. We could easily have stayed here longer.
With a picturesque location in Ambleside, Lake District Ambleside Hotel features a modern spa and a brasserie. There is free parking and spacious rooms with free WiFi and scenic views towards... The kind and friendly manner in which I was treated by the staff sticks out most in my mind. The accommodations were comfortable, the pool was very convenient and the right size for exercising, and the physical location is hard to beat.
Next to Lake Windermere, the stylish Waterhead Hotel offers free spa passes, an AA-Rosette restaurant and elegant rooms with free Wi-Fi. Ambleside is just a 10 minute walk away. Friendly staff. Great meals. Excellent view in room and in dining room table.

Crow How Country Guest House was fantastic to stay in, a lovely B&B with an excellent owner/operator to host those fortunate to stay there. The breakfasts were lovely, the house was in easy proximity to town and to hiking trails and there were great restaurants and pubs for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend a stay in Ambleside and at the Crow How B&B!
Wow, such a beautiful place. The views across the lake are stunning. We were only able to stay one night but we are already planning a return. We took a boat trip across the lake and the booking staff as well as the boat staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. It gave a good impression of the area. Lots of friendly dog owners too. We travelled with our beautiful Labrador and she was made very welcome. What a lovely place. Cant wait to go back.
I’ve always loved Ambleside. Busy but I don’t feel stressed/squashed. Great bars, shops, restaurants. Hayes Garden Centre is a must visit. We ate at the Lake Road Kitchen - a Michelin Star Restaurant.
We love Ambleside. This was a short trip, but we managed to fit in a visit to Blackwell - the Arts and Crafts House - which was superb. We also did a stunning circular walk from Ambleside over Loughrigg Fell, round Loughrigg Tarn, and back to Ambleside, enjoying views of Windermere, Grasmere and Rydal Water and the Rydal Caves along the way as well as many of the peaks.
Beautiful little town that didn't feel too commercial. Plenty to do if you needed a break from walking . You can walk up into the hills from Ambleside without having to drive anywhere. Food choices were excellent but we particularly liked Lucy's on a Plate.
The Lake District is a beautiful area with plenty to see and do. The buses were great getting to different villages. We stayed at the Innskeeper's Lodge in Ambleside as Windermere was too busy for us. The Inn had great food, and shops, buses and other restaurants were within easy walking distance. We took a bus tour of the northern region with Mountain Goat Tours. The sights were beautiful! But beware--if you are prone to getting carsick, this is not the tour for you. My profuse apologies...!

Great location, just a short walk away was the Ambleside pier to catch a boat on the Lake. Close to the town, a short walk to the first bar or restaurant. Although parking is limited, we managed to get parked on their parking space adjoining the property. Property was very clean, well managed, breakfast was lovely We stayed in the themed room Arabian, beautiful room, spacious, very comfotable. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Clean well kept , we stayed at the cottage which is not part of the main hotel building. Room 11 called Otter. Two bedrooms , nice and clean. The staff were all very friendly throughout our stay. Very good choice of food for breakfast. The added bonus of seeing Badgers feeding at night was brilliant. Very good location for all of the Eastern side of the lake district.

Great location right at Ambleside Pier, and a 10min walk into Ambleside village. The staff were friendly and the receptionist was extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the 10% discount to the restaurant down at Regent Hotel was a lovely bonus. Our room didn’t have a view, but was comfortable and clean. It was a great place to stay for 3 nights

This hotel is in a great location in the centre of Ambleside and has its own car park which is a bonus (however the entrance is very tight so beware!). Our room had a lovely view and we had a very peaceful night's sleep. Breakfast was simple but tasty, served quickly which was what we needed. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Great location and Ambleside has lots of shops, restaurants, and a movie theater for rainy days near by. A newly constructed park within a 2 minute walk is a great activity for kids as well. I would suggest your kids be a bit older (7+) as they will need to entertain themselves if it’s rainy- same suggestion I’d make for any B&B

Wateredge Inn is an ideal place to stay right in the heart of Ambleside town. The Inn is located right infront of Lake Windermere. We had the best view from our room. The facility is pet friendly, clean and staffs were superb from day one. Highly recommended.

Chris was extremely helpful in planning our day in Ambleside, copying a map and description of a walk he recommended; it turned out to be beautiful. The breakfast was so filling that we did without lunch, instead just getting a mid-afternoon tea and scone.

Comfortable, quiet, good views and a good, hearty breakfast. The accommodation was in a great position to access Ambleside, Lake Windermere and other Lakes. Good Value for the money you pay, as good as any hotel but more comfortable and spacious.

This was our 3rd visit to the Langdale and we were really excited to try the new Brimstone Spa experience. Definitely worth the money...the spa hosts were really helpful, the treatment rooms were great and the outdoor pool and fire were gorgeous. Can't wait to go back. As usual, the breakfast was 10/10 and we ate at the restaurant this time too...really decent food, fair price, helpful staff and lovely setting. Would definitely recommend.
