the location is magnificent. the hotel is decorated beautifully with so much attention to details and even some sense of humor. the staff (especially Amy) were super helpful, going out of their way to help with anything you need. the place feels like being part of a Tim Barton movie. we loved every minute. dinners are super expensive but they are fun. you get to drink and dine with the other guests hear their stories and bond for the night.

The cottage is in a charming area and has a lot of potential, but I personally didn’t feel completely comfortable staying here on my own. The space had a noticeable musty smell, which I understand can be common in older seaside homes, but (i have allergies) and it was stronger than expected. Some of the furnishings and décor felt dated, and the rooms seemed a bit bare, as though they could use a few cozy touches to make it feel more inviting. There were also some signs of wear, like peeling paint and a bit of mildew around the bathroom door. I think this could be a great place for families or groups who enjoy the rustic, fisherman’s cottage style, but for me as a solo traveler, it didn’t quite feel like the right fit.

Jen & Simon are the lovely couple who run this hotel, they were kind and inviting & clearly wanting our stay to be good. The building is well maintained the rooms are beautiful with great beds & lovely bedding. Each are upgraded and nice in size with ensuite. The breakfast was good in a beautiful glass enclosed area looking into the private yard. They went out of their way to accomodate us and it was appreciated. There are stairs but Simon happily gave us a hand with the luggage. We enjoyed our time there and would definetly return if in this area again.

The owner and the team there went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. This is a little bit of a hidden gem and we wish we had time to stay another night. We rented three separate rooms and all were spotless and very comfortable. The food was great (both dinner and breakfast)! It’s a picturesque little place that was a highlight of our NC 500 trip.

Very quiet place.

Very quiet place. The hotel is still open not shut like many others else-where. Balintore is good for a walk-about with rocky and sandy beaches. Big harbour with excellent traditional, spit on the floor (almost) pub. Fossils can be found on the rocks. Small supermarket with most provisions and a modern village hall with coffee/small food served. Great place to visit and not far from Distilleries and a good base to visit the North of Scotland etc.
