The River View Studio at Old Post Office is located in Bardon Mill and offers a bar, a garden and a terrace. The location of the studio looking on the river was very peaceful and perfect for local walks both directly from the studio and around Hadrian's wall itself; or for just sitting on the balcony and watching the local wildlife and birds with a cup of tea or something stronger! The studio itself was just fabulous with lovely decoration and so many personal touches and additional attention to detail throughout. Mychael and Lisa were excellent hosts, and provided us with a great welcome, breakfast each day and anything else we needed. Bardon Mill village was very friendly with a well stocked shop/cafe and pub; and we enjoyed exploring the pottery.

The room was warm, clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. The Hotel staff were friendly, the food was lovely and the stay was good value for money. I would love to stay at the Bowes Hotel again should we return to Northumberland.
Attractive village close to the River Tyne, well situated for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and Hadrian's wall. It has a small railway station where you can travel into Newcastle or Carlisle for some sightseeing and shopping.
Bardon Mill is a very small village with the Bowes Hotel, a station, Pottery and village shop. The hotel is very well looked after with nice quality fitments and furniture. There is a decent amount of parking outside and bar and restaurant. I'd recommend eating there. I am sure there are other places around too that we did not discover. It is fairly close to Hadrian's Wall and other historic points. Apart from that there is a picnic area on a small green for eating oput in nice weather.
Bowes Hotel right beside Errington Reay pottery, well worth a look, Railway station close by. Vindolanda roman site nearby, Hotel has been recently refurbished, excellent facilities and hospitality.
Can't fault the Bowes Hotel. Ideal location and great service throughout our 3 day stay. Good food, clean and goid facilities, easy access to A69 and roads to Carlisle and Newcastle. Good central base for Hadrians wall.
Not a lot in the area or surrounding area..walking hadrians wall was lovely but you can only do parts really as there’s not a lot to see in some areas..housesteds is the place to walk the wall and see the best scenery in that area, coming from a brief stay in north wales though there was no comparison on the scenery..north wales topped it by far, snowden was amazing..
Bardon Mill
Everything - the warm welcome by Helen, the beautifully designed and fitted Bothie, the idyllic location (perfect for Hadrian's wall), the superb welcome pack of goodies, especially Helen's amazing cake. We couldn't have found a nicer place for our 3 night break to the area. We would choose this over a bog standard hotel room anytime and hope to be back before too long.
Bardon Mill
The Bowes is a little jewel in the English countryside. Beautifully remodeled, yet retaining the charm of 19th century hotel. The food was excellent, the staff friendly. The best sleep and English breakfast we had!
