Set in Bembridge in the Isle of Wight region, Blackberry Cottage features a patio. Bembridge was a great little town with marvellous local shops for food, and the pub round the corner (the Old Village Inn) was friendly and a good place to eat. It's in the Good Beer Guide!
Bembridge is mainly residential. We went for several short walks during our stay; down to the seaside and along the local high street. Neither was noteworthy, but served the purpose of settling our meal and getting some fresh air. You definitely need a car to get to any amenities in the area.
We had dinner in the Crab & Lobster twice. This is good pub food but until Covid restrictions are lifted completely you should book well in advance. Dinner at The Vine in St Helens which has a pleasant outdoor dining area and serves good pub food, once again worth booking if you want to eat inside. Fox’s restaurant is well worth a visit it has a good menu, specials and I can highly recommend the homemade lemon meringue ice cream. The Crab & Lobster and the Vine are approximately a 20/25 minute walk from the Pilot Boat Inn in opposite directions. Bembridge is well served by buses. There is a beach bar out on the Foreland beach which at the moment is walk in, first come first served for lunch or afternoon drinks/tea.
Nice area with sea views and not quite as touristy as Sandown etc. The only downside for us had we have been staying longer would have been the lack of restaurants within walking distance - fine for a long weekend.
We loved Bembridge village for the community spirit lots going on in the village hall from local people selling their crafts etc. Independent shops Great bakery fresh bread each morning. Great to see the Lifeboat supported by the community and holiday makers on the Tuesday training evenings. I have recommend Bembridge to friends and family and would like to return again on holiday here.
The natives are friendly and accommodating. The scenery is stunning and there are some lovely little gift shops also fabulous places to eat including an amazing fish restaurant on the pontoon. And the bonus we even saw a seal in the bay.
Some lovely places to eat nearby with fresh fish and locally grown produce. A pretty little harbour town with an old fashioned High Street including Butcher, excellent Baker, Greengrocer and Veggie shop and cafe and gift shops. Right near the coast with interesting walks past the house boats.

Nice, practical house in quiet location, perfect for a relaxing break. The house has been lived in and loved. If you are expecting 5 star hotel luxury, it's not be the place for you, if you are looking for a comfortable home from home which is dog friendly and a great base for an island break, then we would thoroughly recommend it.

Wonderful, friendly, host George. Right near the water, great pedestrian wilderness walks and high street cafes & shops. George was great at recommending places to eat and have a drink and good on local gossip! Breakfast is continental (no hot food) in a lovely café setting.
