Located in Wallingford, The Crown Inn at Benson offers a restaurant. Among the various facilities are a bar, a garden, as well as a terrace. The property is 1.4 miles from Wallingford Castle. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice even for vegetarians.
Located between Oxford and Henley, this hotel features beautiful views over a quiet part of the River Thames. Guests can enjoy the restaurant and bar and free parking. I live in Newcastle and my partner is from Oxford so we come down quite often and I can safely say this is the place we will be staying every time now. The staff are so friendly, the rooms are comfy and clean and you couldn’t get a better location! That view 😍
Located in Wallingford, The Town Arms features free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a restaurant, a bar and a garden. Wallingford Castle is 328 feet from The Town Arms. Nice location, how ever a bit noisy at the night from the pub across and the road. We had our windows open, if closed would be quieter. We stayed in family room and were very happy there with 3 kids. I liked the separate from the pub entrance to the room-gives you privacy and Independence. Location is very nice by the river, there is a car park 100 yards away, but could be busy on the weekends. Room had a TV, kettle , fan ( much needed in heat wave!) and very nice selection of teas and biscuits. Would definitely return.
The George Hotel is a 16th-century coaching inn situated in the center of the historic market town of Wallingford. With seasonal bistro dining, it is also a 20 minute drive from Oxford. I didn't buy breakfast - loved the location! very central, easy to find and get around, close to restaurants and grocery room was lovely, all the comforts of a more expensive hotel, but i believe this was very reasonably priced - great value!
Boasting garden views, Forge House offers accommodations with a terrace and a kettle, around 984 feet from Wallingford Castle. The location was perfect. There were plenty of shops nearby. Central location. The place was beautifully decorated throughout and very clean. My mum loved the fact that forge house was all on the level and on the ground floor as she has difficulty managing stairs.
Boasting a bar, garden, terrace and free WiFi, The Coachmakers Arms is located in Wallingford, 2297 feet from Wallingford Castle. Really friendly and welcoming. Accommodated us with a young baby. Helped with keeping food warm and getting a cot in the room. Lovely property, newly refurbished. Clean and warm. :)
Set in Wallingford, less than 0.6 mi from Wallingford Castle, Thames Edge Rooms offers accommodations with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. Beautiful decor. Quality linens and furnishings. Congenial and friendly hosts. Great communication. Great range of teas, biscuits and toiletries. Large and very comfortable bed.
Offering free WiFi and city views, D&E Homestay is an accommodations located in Wallingford. Set less than 0.6 mi from Wallingford Castle, the property offers a garden and free private parking. Shower pressure was strong, and the room clean and spacious. Breakfast was light, and tasteful.
We booked room with cooked breakfast including for two nights(Fri & Sat) as per your website details. The kettle in our room did not work, but we could find no one on site to talk to about this. We took matters into our own hands and swapped it with that from another unoccupied room.Went to have breakfast on Sat morning at allotted time only to find bar/dining room locked and deserted. There were no staff around to address the issue and no answer on hotel phone number. Had to go to nearby cafe for breakfast(along with two other guests). Went out for the day, and returned to hotel to find that the room had not been touched (despite hotel guide saying rooms were serviced daily between 10am and 2pm). Bed wasn't made. Bin had not been emptied. Complimentary coffee and milk was not replaced, neither were toiletries. Used/dirty cups and glasses were still in room, and not replaced with fresh ones. We tried to address the issue with bar staff, who said they would talk to the manager 'Neil', who turned out to be extremely elusive. Despite numerous visits to the bar by ourselves he was never available to help. We had made the mistake of paying on arrival, thinking what could go wrong with B&B-HOW WRONG WE WERE!! We felt we were in a really weakened position by then and had no bargaining power. On Sunday morning, we went to breakfast to find there was, in fact,no cooked breakfast, only a few packets of cereal, yogurt and two slices of toast each, and had to sit at one of only two tables, which were still covered in the last nights beer stains. Some one, either the hotel or Booking.com has SERIOUSLY MISREPRESENTED this venue and we feel this borders on fraud. We definitely did not get what we were led to believe we had paid for. VERY,VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
It was advertised as a king room with a king bed that in reality was two single beds pushed together. The decoration was poorly executed and depressing. It was extremely noisy, not particularly from the sports bar below but from the punters who stood out in the street into the early hours of the morning without concerting any effort to speak in quieter tones. We arrived in the evening, and the bar staff's attitude was on the point of outright rudeness. There were no bedside table lamps, the main ceiling light was glaring, the TV far too big for the size of the room so you felt you could do nothing else , the kettle didn't function properly and we weren't even given proper cups with saucers, no small fridge and the bathroom was poorly conceived for the amount of space given. The bar staff in the morning didn't seem to know what they were doing either. The photos gave a false impression of the size of the dining area and the outside terrace. It basically presented itself as a kind of dirty weekend stop-off for off-duty RAF staff. Absolutely tasteless and twice the price it was worth. 눇The waitress who served us breakfast was polite and attentive. The breakfast was decent but could have been better. Benson as a place to visit is very boring and in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't recommend it even as a stopover. It felt dodgy in the evening. There is no separate registration desk and so any dealings have to be done at the one bar amidst drunken onlookers - not the sort of experience you need after a long journey. These people obviously know absolutely nothing about how to run a hotel or how to treat residing guests. Everything about the place is a total rip-off and as you can tell, I feel quite angry about it as it spoiled my short holiday.
