This family-run hotel and restaurant in the heart of the Cotswold Hills is close to Berkeley Castle, the Jenner Museum, the Wet Lands Trust and Slimbridge Severn Way. Wow what a blast out of the past this hotel was great. It really was something special out in the middle of a little town. The decommissioned nuclear plant is one thing. The town is great and this location was very special. Over 200 years old and the owner Wendy was fantastic. Pub was perfect and the food was fantastic.
The Old Bakery - 11A is located in Berkeley, 16 miles from Bristol Parkway Station and 18 miles from Kingsholm Stadium, in an area where hiking can be enjoyed. The property was absolutely beautiful and clean. It had everything you could have wanted and everything was high quality. Jo was the most attentive owner and came in for a chat and was kind enough to move the car to allow my wedding car to arrive to collect me! It felt like nothing was too much! The property was spacious enough for a bridal party, makeup artist and photographer to move around without feeling we were on top of each other. It was the perfect stay to start our new adventure as Husband and Wife!
Halmore Pod is located in Berkeley, 19 miles from Bristol Parkway Station, 23 miles from Cabot Circus, as well as 23 miles from Bristol Zoo. The 4-star vacation home is 17 miles from Kingsholm... Lovely stay, pod excellent, under floor heating great, warm and toasty, everything we needed, hot tub just brilliant to relax and unwind
Located in Berkeley, 16 miles from Bristol Parkway Station and 18 miles from Kingsholm Stadium, Market View provides accommodations with amenities such as free WiFi and a flat-screen TV. Very spacious, excellently equipped kitchen. Large tv with lots of streaming options. Comfortable beds, and conveniently sited right in the middle of Berkeley. Benefitted from free upgrade to Old Bakery.
We chose Berkeley because it was just a short drive from Slimbridge, so it was very convenient. Getting to Gloucester is also easy and this is well worth a visit for the Cathedral, shops and plenty of cafes and restaurants. Around the docks is very interesting and there is the Outlet Centre there. As it was winter and the Castle was not open we did not visit Berkeley Castle but in the summer this would also be on the list of attractions.
I didn't have time to explore Berkeley unfortunately but I found the castle and gardens well maintained and of great interest to me. Although I did eat in the Castle tent I didn't enjoy the food entirely I felt the environment which was hot and smelly wasn't exactly conducive to having a nice meal. The quality was only average and it would have been better if they had stuck to providing good quality sandwiches prepared on site which I understand doesn't happen presently. .
We cake here for a wedding so only stayed a night. The town is a beautiful historic place with a wonderful castle. I would definitely recommend a visit to Berkeley if you want a peaceful retreat with added history.
The apartment is amazing one of the cleanest places I have stayed and the biggest and most comfortable bed you would have ever stayed in and Jo the owner is a lovely woman I would advise anybody who is going to Berkeley to stay in this apartment excellent stay Anthony
