Shendish Manor Hotel & Golf Course, hotel in Berkhamsted

In 160 acres of formal gardens, Shendish Manor features a leafy golf course, elegant restaurant and scenic countryside views. The manor is in Apsley, just outside Hemel Hempstead.

The manor was a great experience, well maintained, clean, good breakfast. The facility is long with many coordors and not good for escaping in an emergency in my opinion.

The Olde Kings Arms, hotel in Berkhamsted

The Olde Kings Arms is an attractively restored 16th century coaching Inn, which offers comfortable air conditioned accommodations and is dog friendly in all rooms.

Food was great. People were great. The street aesthetic was cool, location was cool and the age of the property is wild to me as an American, loved the history behind the property. St Marys Church across the street as well as a park. Corner shop nice and close.

Not a stranger to Berko, born and bred.

Not a stranger to Berko, born and bred. All antique shops and estate agents when I was growing up now full of restaurants and coffee shops which is very nice when visiting. Canal side pubs great. Castle worth a visit.

Comfy beds was only plus, room cross between caller and prison cell Windows ceiling height Not as clean as it should have been , especially in today's Covid times, cobwebs are clue to room not being properly, breakfast tepid first morning, but much better second morning definitely, not as high end as advertised, parking poor,

    I love Berkhamsted.

I love Berkhamsted. Went with my friends couple of years ago and we shopped, had lunch and went to the Rex cinema which is great. Went with my husband a couple of weeks ago and did shopping, dinner and Rex cinema. The hotel location is great. We managed to get in the hotel car park which is off the Waitrose car park. Not sure of the parking costs if hotel car park was full. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and some lovely shops, my favourite being The Forge Boutique. The place isn't massive but would recommend for a one night stay and trip to the Rex.

The hotel is well located with one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in my life. The facilities in bathroom require update in standard room, the room was clean though and everything you might need for a 1-2 nights stay was there, overall - very good.
