I have known Brough for a long time and have found the locals to be friendly and ready to help with information if required. The village is quiet with two Pubs which serve meals. I dined at INN Hotel the food was good. There is a village shop which caters for most items you might need and has nice staff. The village is a good starting point for outdoor activities. The village has good footpaths so easy to get around. Kirby Stephen is four miles away which has a train station and a Co-op supermarket and post office if required.
Lovely area with gorgeous views and walks close by,easy to find and get around .Swanson house beautiful stay, lovely meal at the inn, family reported great chips in the chippy and helpful staff in the local shop.
Borough is very quiet with, as far as I discovered, 1 shop, 1 pub, a fish and chip shop and this lovely old coaching inn. There are some lovely walks in and around Brough and it is ideal situated off the A66. There is a castle ruin also Great for visiting the places of interest in Cumbria and County Durham and of course the Lakes.
Brough
homely hotel, comfy beds, nice, hardworking staff (not many of them so they seemed to do everything)
