Our favourite stay in Scotland! The rooms were not just beautifully appointed but also very thoughtfully. Service was attentive and warm but discreet. Great location to explore the area including a short drive to St. Andrews. From welcome drinks & treats in the stunning room with lovely views plus excellent lighting (a rarity in any hotel) to the extravagant breakfasts; a lot of effort had gone into making this an exceptional stay for their guests. The breakfasts were an absolute treat, all perfectly cooked by their Chef with 5 star service by amazing Alex. Both managers David & Dave were lovely; nothing was too much trouble - including bringing ice up 3 flights of stairs for our drinks. We enjoyed a lively & entertaining village jam session in the back bar on our first night; and it was still quiet in the bedroom during the session - great soundproofing! Top marks for The Shoregate. Highly recommend.

The location was terrific. Right across from the harbour. Parking was a little frustrating as in most tourist destinations everywhere. The first night I purposely didn't arrive until around 5pm so did not have too much problems. The second day I had to park over a km away. Then before dinner I walked back and moved my car close to the hotel so it was easier packing up in the morning. This is a fantastic ambient renovated hotel. There were a number of different rooms in different sections of the premises. I was on the first floor on one section with a window overlooking a courtyard. This was a smaller room with a large single very comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom had been very tastefully renovated and I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay. The meals in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast were delicious and varied. I did not bother trying anywhere else. I will certainly go and stay here again when I move back to Scotland permanently in a couple of months.

Cellardyke is well situated for touring the whole of the...

Cellardyke is well situated for touring the whole of the East Neuk. It has a lovely shoreline, part of the coastal path, and a huge tidal pool which is definitely worth a visit. It is within easy walking district of Anstruther with its harbour, fish and chip shops and supermarket. Recommended as a base for visiting this pretty part of Scotland.

A short walk from the property down to the historic...

A short walk from the property down to the historic Cellardyke harbour with its interesting collection of buildings. A drink in The Haven Bar was a great way to round off the evening - we didn't eat but the food looked good.

Location, location, location.

Location, location, location. A beautiful spot on the Fife coast. Cellardyke is a lovely waterside / harbour town adjoining Anstruther and ideally placed for exploring other key coastal towns. Cellardyke has great cafes, bars, sandy beach areas, boat trips and watersports for children and families.

Friendly people and great location.

Friendly people and great location. The Haven is good for reasonably priced evening meals and the first pub walking into town from the Haven end of the road is lovely and they provided us a delicious breakfast and a very good price.

Cellardyke is next door to Anstruther’ fishing villages on...

Cellardyke is next door to Anstruther’ fishing villages on the Fife coast. They have a lot of charm, are quiet out of high season and access the Fife coastal path. There are good restaurants in Anstruther, traditional pubs and a few independent shops, very short walk. Not too far from Edinburgh or central beltto drive and has nearby historical sites to visit.

The area was lovely and quiet , although hilly it is...

The area was lovely and quiet , although hilly it is wheelchair friendly . I wouldn’t recommend pushing the wheelchair up hill daily . Loved the area , lots to do and see , small villages to visit nearby.
