The staff were all excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and really good value. Spoke to other guests and nobody had a bad word about the hotel.

Best of all is the location as it is just below Parlick Fell. Just walk out of the front door for fabulous days out in the Forest of Bowland. Very comfortable studio apartment, with resident's lounge area, outdoor seating and WIFI. Would go again.

The Gibbon Bridge hotel is admittedly out of the way - and that is part of its charm. If you are wondering what you would do with your time, they recommend a series of day trips you can accomplish in the local area. If you are looking for a place that is quiet and peaceful you could not possibly do better. While there are a number of places to eat within easy reach the hotel's own restaurant serves food of a quality that would make you question why you should want to go elsewhere.

This is a small village but boasts a couple of shops, cafes and a haunted pub. It is the gateway to Parlick and Saddle Fells. Lots of cyclists and walkers. Easy ride to Preston, Blackburn or Clitheroe on a rainy day. Only 4 miles from Beacon Fell country park. Very pretty village with friendly people.

We visited the Sun Inn for our meal on the Friday night. Friendly warm atmosphere and good choice on the menu .Reasonable pricing too. The corner coffee shop was well worth a visit too. Good centre for exploring the neighbouring countryside. Village hall was a great venue for our friends'party and the local ceilidh band were great .

Stone built with front doors right on to the road which only had pedestrians, farm animals and horses in those days. Centuries old. Claims oldest continually open shop in the country! Open since 1668. But may soon close. Still the building and frontage will remain. Two pubs a very short walk away. A lovely old country corner cafe with homenade specials. Thriving and busy when we stopped there. Altogether a village exuding quality and a world away from downtown city lfe. But the best bit of all is that it is just 5 mins. down the country lanes to the Inn at Whitewell which stands almost alone in the valley and right on the river Hodder and is without a doubt the best pub in the world!
