Clovelly is a really special place. There is very little like it. The whole place has a really nice atmosphere to it. The harbour is beautiful. It is very steep but there is a land rover service provided. We ate at the Red Lion's restaurant. The menu is largely fish based, with fresh fish arriving from the boats that dock in the harbour. Other menu options are available that are non-fish based. If arriving by car to stay at the Red Lion best to arrive later in the day.
Been to Clovelly a couple of times before, it felt dangerous to walk down on the cobbles and has I have c o p d I had to take my inhalers on the way up and stop to get my breath a few times. Not sure how the lovely donkeys manage it in the summer. It is a unique place to go but now I'm 74, think it will be my last time to climb.liked to visit the gardens and the church which were included in the price.
If you've never been, go! The Red Lion is a perfect escape from the world and like stepping back 100 years...but with modern amenities. The village is glorious and the hotel have wonderful rooms, staff and food. The perfect getaway in one of the UK's most unique little coastal villages! Perfect views of North Devon coastline and perfect mix of charm and comfort! You must be fit to walk up and down the village, but worth every effort.
Clovelly is a beautiful place - well worth a visit. Very steep cobbled path to and from Harbour but a Land Rover service is available. Red Lion Hotel is a good place to stay and has an excellent Restaurant. Hobby Drive Coastal Path provides a lovely walk. Opportunity to visit the Donkeys and craft shops.
The views were fantastic on the walk down . Anyone going should be warned to wear suitable foot ware so they can cope with the cobbles. We would have liked to stay longer, but the last jeep ride back to the top stops at 3.30pm which is really silly, and we found people extremely unhappy about this rule. The ticket office at the top keep taking money for the experience of seeing Clovelly, but after 3.30pm. Ant get back to the top without the jeep ride. We didn’t have time to visit little shops or cafe/ restaurants. As we had to queue for nearly an hour for the jeep.
stayed at the New Inn. excellent friendly staff. family atmosphere, felt so welcome, really comfortable room, staff exceptional. any requirements fulfilled, food delicious, breakfast. lunch & evening meal. look forward to re-visiting.
Clovelly
Perfect base for exploring. The South West Coastal path runs through the site, so the dog and I had a lovely run to Clovelly and the whole family had an enjoyable (but very steep!) walk to the beach. Lots to do in the surrounding area. We chose this accommodation because it is close the The Milky Way Adventure park, which our children love. The Chalet was clean and warm with plenty of cutlery and pans etc, great value for money. Right next to the park, pool and very close to the entertainment, but not noisy.
Clovelly
The location is ideal if you are visiting the village Clovelly, and also good location for Bideford etc. We had the family room at the front of the house and the room and en suite were perfect.Everything was there that you needed, shampoo, shower gel etc, hairdryer, and coffee machine, refrigerator etc. The breakfast was exceptional, with a good variety on the menu for you to choose. Helen was an exceptional host as nothing was too much trouble for her in these difficult times.
