Not really in Darlington - on the outskirts. Wonderful setting and walking possible around the golf course. We used it as a base to visit Bishop Auckland and Durham close to motorway and east access by car to local areas
Easy to find once leaving the A1M, well sign posted. Very easy to drive around & plenty of easy parking. Pretty church & tree lined green gave the area of Cockerton Green a country village feel.
I visited Darlington to attend a family event, so I didn't sightsee. However, I used to live there in the 1970's and it's changed an awful lot. Some places I don't recognise. All in all, I think Darlington has improved a great deal.
My mums family lived there and from being born in 1950 I went there about 10+ a year, to see them Eventually it was just my Nanna left and its just going back to revisit and remember happy times, see what's changed .South Park is virtually still the same Happy memories of the skating rink and the fishing pools we used to go to as kids. The station although more modern now has some memories too, but miss the cattle market on a Monday, and also where Feethams field was ,where all the shows came every Easter and holiday times ,exceptional childhood memories all round.
The birthplace of the Railways, it was once a thriving Victorian market town drawing people and trade from throughout the county. Its now shabby and run down with no clear plan or purpose....but lots of Greggs! For reasons I don't understand rather than augment the unique features of the town, the planners have allowed it to be ripped apart and shops re distributed to shabby little out of town shopping centers. The destruction of the "High Row" was an act of extreme vandalism and allowing the 19th century market hall and to decline to the point of closure unfathomable....your average US tourist would give their right arm for the architectural heritage of this place....shame on the Town Council
The own was brilliant.. pick us up when the taxi driver dropped me off in the place.. I telephone the number.. and the owner was in bed... said wait there I pick you up.. the owner house was brilliant it had a garden the bed room was nice and clean.. me & my wife had slept like. a log.. plus the kitchen had everything we wanted for breakfast.. what brilliant system.. see had.. a very well organised house.. worth all the money.. it was the best BB we both been to 🍻 and thanks very 😃
Hotel was clean, very friendly staff, good price, has some features so not bland, does feel corporate, large room with walk in shower (was superior double), comfy bed, sash windows that open, has parking, good free wifi, convenient to Darlington, nice location good for walks. The breakfast was very lovely (full English) and usual additions available. On future stays for work will book again.
Darlington
The room was a nice size very spacious and clean and we had a comfortable stay there is a restaurant attached to the hotel ideal for a quiet drink but I didn't really rate the food. If you want to go into Darlington town centre you can catch a bus 2minute walk across the road there are buses every half hour ideal if you don't want to drive.
The apartment was clean, tidy and we'll presented. Tea, coffee, milk and orange juice were provided. The rooms were warm and there was plenty of hot water. The communication from the owner was excellent and obtaining the keys and gaining entry to the apartment was easy. It was 5 minutes walk from the centre of Darlington.
This was a trip to the Darlington R&B Weekender Festival. We were so glad we booked this hotel which was fabulous. Lovely looking building. Great bedroom. Excellent staff. We booked an evening meal was was good value and beautiful.

The Bed was comfortable and housekeeping were very pleasant and helpful. Most staff were pleasant and communicable. Hotel is central to Darlington so excursions around the town were easy.
Friendly staff throughout my stay. Modern room (a bit warm though); nice dining room, good bar, good location. I actually rate the hotel better than a Premier Inn.
The Hotel is recently refurnished to quite a high standard, We will definitely go back again. Couldn't fault it.
