We got such a warm welcome and the personal touch makes for a relaxed, home from home atmosphere. I just wish we had stayed longer so we could enjoy all the facilities! If you are heading this direction, and if not why not?! ….. don’t miss out on this little gem! Hands down the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Near Stansted Airport, ideal for a departure planned the next day morning, nevertheless stay in a very quiet village. The hotel is very comfortable, the pub is friendly and you can have good foods in it. The staff is particularly kind and helpful. Parking facilities appreciated.

The Gate Cottage is set in Thaxted. The accommodations is 24 mi from Colchester. Unique location, opposite the church, in a historic building. Excellent communication throughout. Cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed for a short stay.
