A nice apartment in the city centre, local shops and restaurants within walking distance. The owner gave clear instructions and advice, which was helpful. I would definitely book again!

Set in 2.5 acres of tree lined gardens, this 18th-century property offers a warm welcome and excellent service. We have had to postpone due to covid-19 but they were happy to hold our booking until this passes, very pleasant people who I look forward to meeting in the flesh later this year. Stay safe.

Dating to the 1740s, The Mews Hotel is set in a charming courtyard in Ossett, between Wakefield and Dewsbury. It offers real ales in the cozy bar and a restaurant serving classic British cuisine. Excellent friendly staff and owner. Comfortable room for the price. Really good restaurant
Dewsbury seemed to be a rough, economically depressed area - at least where I stayed, that's the way it came across. It would do for a night stop while traveling somewhere else or while doing work in the area, but it didn't seem to have anything that would draw me for leisure or entertainment.
Dewsbury is a forgotten town, not a lot of people have been to Dewsbury or know about it. Most of the people seem happy go lucky, but there is a lot of poverty and lack of jobs. It is a pleasant place but come 7pm, it is a ghost town, only the people collecting takeaways are seen. Like most ex-mining towns, good jobs were not replaced when the mines died, so the quality of live died with the town. It is a place you visit but you won't stay forever. It may be seem as dated. Locals are friendly and shopping is cheap. It is good place for hiking, walking up and down the hills, looking over the valleys of Yorkshire and access point to other town. The houses are still kept in good condition and maintained well.
The accommodation was really bad - do not book. We can let little things slide in an accommodation however dirty bedding (looked and smelt like they sheets hadn’t been changed) and broken sofas and facilities with nails jagging feet throughout the property is pretty much to take on and let slide. This place looks like it gets used for parties and gets trashed. Really don’t book! Can’t really provide comment on the area as we moved to a better location nearer to Leeds
In town for overnight local birthday party. Enjoyed Sunday market stalls & located unique shops for my interests. Yes area is run down a bit but the history & mill day buildings needs to be appreciated & have survived!
We visited Dewsbury for a church conference, and the venue was perfect, with lots of space and excellent facilities for quite a large number of people. Our hotel was perfect, with great meals and top-notch service. We really hope we'll have the opportunity of a future visit.
Some interesting features. A pity about the refuse lining the streets and fly tipping everywhere. Also the number of derelict and unoccupied buildings particularly when so many people /families are seeking homes
Great location. Very clean rooms, delicious breakfast and the best staff ever!!!
Comfy and clean with friendly staff
