We loved everything about the place the character and the high standard of furnishing and decor was lovely. The service and staff were very professional and the food was out of this world. Cannot put into words how fantastic our stay here was

A beautiful place to stay, the food was great. Karl the chef served very creative tasting meals. The only negative is the location. We would never found it except a local resident offered to guide us there.

If you look for a remote, peaceful and quiet place, then this is for you. Beautiful views. Spacious and comfortable room. Dinner at the restaurant was really lovely - great food, sommelier's choice of wines for every course was excellent, just the right amount of attention from the staff. This was our second stay here, we (me and 17 year old daughter) love the beautiful buildings and setting. Our twin room was clean and comfortable, lovely laundered bedding, flagstone floors, very nice ensuite spacious, good shower. We didn't have the evening meal but it looks very impressive and would be excellent if the wonderful breakfast is anything to go by - great choice and quality. Staff are professional, friendly and helpful while not being over obtrusive, just right. The sitting room is great to relax in and can get wifi there. It is also a great base for exploring the many places of interest in the surrounding area.

Lovely location. The feeling of isolation but only 10 mins from the lovely town of Lidlow and the Shropshire hills. We toured the area of Sheopshire. Herefordshire and Gloucester and had a wonderful time. And every night returned to the four poster bed and the tranquil setting of Downton on the rock. A lovely location and the food and breakfast was superb in all local pubs and the lodge itself. Can't wait to return.

This is a fantastic place - very old but tastefully transformed into high class accommodation, spacious with all mod cons and thoughtful extras such as umbrellas for crossing the courtyards etc. Breakfast and dinner were superb This was our second stay and we hope to revisit when in the area again.
