In the center of Duns on Market Square, The White Swan Hotel offers rooms with attached bathroom, a restaurant and bar. Staff were amazing and so very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, had an indoor area with tv and secure outdoor area. Comfortable beds and loved the full view from the toilet out of the window to town sqaure below haha. If dont like that there is a blind and curtain for privacy. I would go back in a heart beat. Such a beauitful and lively place/ people.
Located in Duns, Black Bull Hotel features a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. Located off the main square in the quiet but interesting town of Duns. Ideally located for visiting beautiful Scottish Borders. The en-suite room was very comfortable and quiet on the top floor. Food was wonderful, breakfast and evening meal - good quality freshly cooked ingredients. Staff are so friendly. Loved the place and would like to return
Millar Organics Farm Cottage is located in Duns. This apartment features a garden, barbecue facilities, free WiFi and free private parking. Warm welcome from hosts, including apple juice made with apples from the farm and a freshly baked cake. The cottage was beautifully presented, clean, homely with all amenities. The location is beautiful and was ideal as we were attending a wedding at Wedderburn Castle
I am very biased as I lived and worked in Duns for 4 years in fact I was married to a local girl in Duns church. It is a small friendly town and welcomes a large number of visitors. On this occasion we visited friends who were have kept in contact with over a number of years.
We chose Duns because of the Jim Clarke museum and had no preconceptions of the town. At first it seemed rather tired and run down but improved over the 5 days we stayed there. I walked the dog a lot so got to know the town fairly well. Lovely park, good walking near Duns castle and friendly people. We ate at the Black Bull, a friendly pub with good food reasonably priced and friendly locals. Other places of interest are easily accessible and the countryside around is lovely.
lovely quaint wee town, very friendly people! Nice choice of coffee shops considering it's a rather small place also nice to support small family businesses! Lots of places of interest in and around the town also lots of places to visit a short drive away!! I'd recommend the bistro for lunch, very covid friendly with everything made fresh to order, nice choice of menu and the coronation chicken was really tasty!
Duns is very quite good base to explore nearby places St Abbs lovely coastal walk. Eyemouth historic fishing village Berwick upon tweed fabulous place great walk round the walls of the city . All within a 30min drive from Duns.
Lovely little border town with long history. Not overflowing with bars and restaurants though. The Old Swan and Black Bull do meals but only one of the two main restaurants open. (There is another pub, the Horn but not sure if it does food. There are cafes and bistros where snacks and meals can be had. Good base to explore the area but be careful of opening times as many local attractions ( including the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum close for Winter:-( )
Duns is a beautiful old market town with many interesting attractions nearby. We were easily able to visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle in a little more than an afternoon. We loved to sit in the Market Square and just watch life in Duns pass before our eyes.
