Located in the North-Western Highlands, in the remote village of Durness, Highland Holiday House features uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean. What a perfect home from home that we stayed in whilst exploring the North Coast of Scotland. There's a shop within walking distance and some lovely beaches, craft village, smoo caves, zip line and other treasures all nearby with plenty of amazing drives further afield. The house itself was comfortable, clean, well equipped, centrally located and the views were out of this world, especially the sunrise! Our family loved our 3 night stay here and the host was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area.
Offering free WiFi and garden views, Northern Lights is an accommodations located in Talmine. This holiday home features a garden and free private parking. Everything, from arrival to departure our stay was amazing and even with last minute changes thanks to the Tier 4 announcement we where looked after.
Skipaflotta is set in Rhiconich and offers a garden. The accommodations has free WiFi throughout the property. This holiday home has 2 bedrooms, a cable TV, a dining area, and a kitchen. Absolutely everything! Amazing, beautiful, wonderful place. Spotlessly clean, super well equipped with everything you could need (I needn’t have brought half the things I did, as they had them provided there, but I’ll know for next time). Peter & Elizabeth are wonderful, super helpful, very gracious and lovely hosts. Peter brought me a fresh bag of wood for the burner every day, and even helped me patch up my car door after some workmen reversed in to me. And the location... just jaw droppingly stunning and beautiful. One of the most beautiful places on earth!
Durness is a beautiful little place with amazing beaches and great facilities. There is a small but very well equipped Spa supermarket that has everything you could possibly need. Smoo Cave and Balnakeil Craft Village are both close by and lovely to visit. Would strongly recommend Sango Sands Oasis bar and restaurant for a drink and takeaway fish and chips. There is so much to see and do in the highlands and Durness is a perfect spot from which to explore.
Durness is a welcome habitation after the journey through the bleak Highlands. The weather was quite fierce (wind & rain) but with compensatory rainbows. The seascapes were stunning. We were on a singing week so we weren't just "tourists".
Beautiful place, beaches to visit. Would be heaven, stunning scenery when it's sunshine day. There are lot of crafts, arts work; many independent small shops/studio - mixing of hippy and modern. Not enough car parks when it's high season and busier. Need patience or park further up, walk down it's what holiday are about :-) Would like be back again one day with my freinds, a member of my family or on my own. Enjoying long driving through the countryside, mountains... Very therapy. Be sure you filling up your car fuel before leave Durness, not quarter fuel left, saw poor one of foreigners hire car ran out of fuel...!
Durness is a quiet location with amazing scenery and beaches. Sango Sands beach and balnakeil beach are beautiful. There is a pub in Durness and also the Smoo Cave hotel that serve food. You also have a small petrol station and two convenience stores. Everything you need for your stay.
Durness is a beautiful place. We went to Smoo cave which was an experience. This was an archeological dig. They have found items which confirms life over 7000 yrs ago. It was an outstanding sight. The height n size of the cave was phenomenal and that was only the big main cave. There were others which could only be seen by being taken by boat via a giant waterfall. We were unable to attend these due to the high winds were too high and it would be dangerous. But we managed to take photos of the waterfall which was amazing. They also have a memorial garden in memory of John Lennon the lead singer of the Beetles. John used to holiday there when he was younger as well as coming here to get away from the pressures of his job. Durness is beautiful place where people from all over the Wirld. We met other Scots as well as people from Wales America Sweden Belgium and Germany. Everyone loved Durness. My dad n I came here in the summer n I brought my 6yr old granddaughter this time. Would highly recommend to other too.
the hostel is right next door to smoo cave and some magnificent walking tracks. the village is just a short walk away. cocoa mountain is a few minutes drive westwards for a delicious hot chocolate. we cooked a meal in the hostel kitchen which is well stocked with cooking utensils, but there are some good places nearby for a meal out.
