Eastbourne was a great base for us to explore the surrounding South Downs, Beachy Head, Cuckmere Haven, Alfriston, as well as Eastbourne itself with its long sea front. There were a lot of beautiful places to walk around, stunning scenery, and very welcoming people. We loved visiting Alfriston - plenty to fill a day there. Eating out at Sovereign Harbour nearby was also good.

General clean appearance and flat extensive promenade made walking a pleasure. Plenty of seating and well kept with litter obviously being cleared regularly. Range of shops very much like most other towns with all the usual brands but few independent shops in the main shopping area.
The pier was disappointing with nothing to attract us but gives good views along the coast.
Obviously a place much loved by the older generation but something for everyone here.

The weather was sunny, Eastbourne was lovely.
The weather was sunny, Eastbourne was lovely. I'd booked one night originally and then added another. The walks by the beach, and going part of the way up Beachy Head were the best bit. Have fish and chips in Harry Ramsdens, a whippy ice cream at the cafe by the wish tower. Also a cup of tea at the gardens higher up.
I usually go up Beachy Head on the tour bus, which is great fun, this time I did some walking on the hill. It's very peaceful and quiet if you want to get away from the crowds.
There's a good theatre and art gallery also.

It's a typical south coast Victorian beach resort, which is fine if that's what you want. The pier is quite spectacular and the Victorian Tea Room on the pier is good. We saw the Waverley paddle steamer depart from the pier.
The rail station is lovely.
The promenade stretches for miles and is part of the South Coast Path with Beachy Head at the westerly end.
We loved The Pilot Inn, at the Meads end of the town.
The town centre is a very good town centre with all the major stores - something of a rarity these days. And the Towner Art Gallery is excellent.

It's certainly true there is a high percentage of seniors.
It's certainly true there is a high percentage of seniors.
Not much for young people.
Pier has been nicely renovated (by a Sheikh) but amusement arcades are not my cup of tea.
Good selection of different restaurants
Loss of 2 department stores in town centre is a big loss as its mostly charity shops now.
Beach is shingle but would be pleasant in warm sunny weather.
However, we will not bother going again.

Eastbourne is lovely - quite quiet, so suited more to an older demagraphic - I think if I were younger there isnt enough happening in the evenings, retaurants close at 9pm ish - its quite varied walking from one end to the other. It a very typical British seaside coastal town, definitely worth a visit! and for walkers - the far end of Eastbourne takes you on to the downs and to Beachy head - some lovely beach cafes too!
The hotel is on the seafront, about 10 minutes from the town centre shopping area. The room was large and had a side sea view. The standard of cleanliness was very good. The beds were comfortable. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. All staff from reception, restaurant, cleaning, etc were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was varied with cooked choices, fruit and yoghurt and pastries, and cheese and ham. Even when it was busy at the weekend, everything was kept topped up.
This is not a 5 star hotel so you cannot expect it to be.
For the price you pay its more than adequate. Clean and tidy room. Lovely friendly staff and a nice breakfast with everything you would expect.
Location is perfect due to being on the seafront and no more than a 5/10 minute walk to the town centre and right opposite the pier. Our room had a lovely sea view although due to the wind and rain made it look slightly bleak.
All in all very happy with our stay.
This was my second stay here. it is a very well modernised hotel in an excellent location. This time I had a seaview room and was pleasantly surprised by how good the noise insulation is (seaview rooms in Eastbourne overlook the seafront road). There was a good choice at breakfast and it was well served.
Staff all very helpful and friendly, lovely comfortable room, high quality cooked breakfast.
Location - is situated ideally between seafront and town.
By far the best accommodation I have used in Eastbourne.
