The Chatsworth Hotel

Hotel in Eastbourne City Centre, Eastbourne

The Chatsworth Hotel is an exquisitely restored Victorian seafront retreat, overlooking the historic pier and bandstand.

Historic property (the elevator is quite old, really cool to ride it) and big rooms with high ceilings. The bathroom is quite large as well. Everything was clean, there's also a fridge in the room if you need it (but it was quiet). Very friendly staff, always up for a chat or recommendations what to do or where to go. There's a breakfast option available, which we didn't use. We however used the small icecream cart at the entrance. The hotel is directly at the promenade. It doesn't have it's own parking, however you can park for 2 £/day on the street with an H-card and you only need it Mo-Sat from 8-18. We never had any issue finding a parking spot.

A very nice hotel with a great staff. When we arrived I told my name and was given a package with our key, WiFi password and breakfast information immediately, everything was ready. The staff helped us bring our bicycles to a storage room where they were locked overnight. Dinner was excellent! The wait staff were very nice. The photographs in the bar area are worth a visit alone.

Eastbourne is a favourite with older holiday makers who enjoy a walk along the boardwalk and the watch the waves. It has grand hotels and good restaurants. It is also close to some great ways to spend your day. Beachy Head is just at the end of the beach, and Alfriston is a short bus ride away.

Eastbourne has always had the tag line of God’s waiting room!!! Meaning it’s for the older generation, I felt it’s ok if you need to stay overnight for a conference etc, but for holiday it’s not ideal……

There is a lot of regeneration in Eastbourne which all for the better I think My favourite part of the time I spent was the little Dotto Train which runs along the sea front to Sovereign Harbour you pay one price and you can get hop on and off at any point of the journey. The small amount of stalls long the seafront are a welcome distraction. The train station isn't far away about a 10 minute walk to sea front

Eastbourne wasn’t really my cup of tea.

Eastbourne wasn’t really my cup of tea. It felt quite run down in places and had more of a dated, slightly rough seaside-town feel than I was expecting. There were a few nicer bars and cafés that we enjoyed, but overall it didn’t feel like somewhere I’d be particularly keen to return to.

Room is large, bed comfortable, there is a sofa to sit on and tea/coffee making facilities. The shower room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was included in the price which offered various cooked options and cereals etc. The staff are welcoming and attentive at breakfast. Hotel has a car park and is situated within a 10 minute walk of the town centre, local restaurants and the seafront.

We stayed for the airshow, perfect small hotel in Eastbourne right on the seafront. You will pay far more at neighbouring corporate hotels. But you won't get the perfect friendly family service West Rocks Townhouse provides. Best views of the aircraft and fireworks. Just loved it, pet friendly, great breakfast bag. Seriously, I can't fault it!
