In Claygate, The Foley has been a village pub since the 1780s. Now a traveler's inn, it has boutique-style bedrooms, a stylish pub, and a dining room. Wi-Fi and parking are free. Food, stayed in three different hotels on our trip to the UK, including Hilton, Premier Inn and this was by far the best food. The weekend breakfast finishes at 10.30am and weekdays 9.30am. We forgot this and on monday morning the owner came and knocked on our door at 9.20 to let us know they are closing up and to make sure we were ok for breakfast or else we would have missed it, great service
Nice high street with some very good restuarants , walking distance to Sandown racecourse and 20 mins from Kempton so perfect for our stay. Not far from shopping in Kingston and also the river Thames and the great walks you can have.
A bit tight on parking but staff were very accomodating. Quality of food was of a high standard so was room and facilities. I am quite short the bath was a bit difficult to get out of and a bit slippery we stayed in room 1 We would definitely recommend the bear at Esher
Esher is a compact town with a proliferation of estate agents and restaurants. We ate at the Cote Brasserie where we had a most enjoyable evening and, bearing in mind this was Esher, it was very good value. Getting around Esher on foot is easy but in a car is decidedly more difficult and parking can also be problematic.
Esher is a really nice town with plenty of places to eat and sights to see. It's known for horse racing so some places have an equestrian theme. The train station to town is a straight forward walk and takes around 10-15 minutes. Cross the road and walk left from the station, go past Cafe Rouge on the right corner and it's a straight road to the High Street. Here you'll find all the shops and restaurants. The Albert Arms, where I stayed, does a nice roast on Sundays and the Giggling Squid does great Thai food. The Thai Green Curry is a must! There are plenty of shops too including a Waitrose for your grocery needs.
Good range of restaurants and shops, if a little expensive. Country setting but within easy reach of local tourist attractions such as Kew and Hampton Court, and London. Would recommend La Orient Chinese for beautifully cooked authentic food.
We liked everything about West End Lodge. It is situated in a quiet residential part of Esher. The property is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Edwina was the perfect host, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, Edwina cooked us whatever we liked. Our bedroom was spotless clean, warm and comfortable. Toiletries were provided and drinks in the fridge. We had a lovely stay so can highly recommend West End Lodge.
Hotel rooms are in a separate building, in a nice quiet location, across a road from the pub. Large comfy bed & clean room, large fluffy towels. Able to make our own continental breakfasts from basic ingredients provided in the shared kitchen. Nespresso-type coffee maker in room, pods provided, nothing too much trouble for staff. Fresh flowers in the kitchen.
We recently stayed at The Swan whilst visiting family in Esher. Our room was most comfortable and immaculate as was the attractive ensuite. The staff were very friendly and most efficient. On this occasion we only had breakfast however in the past have also enjoyed dinner. Excellent food and hospitality. looking forward to our next stay. Thank you.
The lady on reception made me feel so totally welcome and recommended some lovely places to eat. I was exhibiting at an exhibition at Sandown race course so the hotel was the perfect location.
Lovely Pub hotel with friendly staff and nice little touches such as fresh brownies and good coffee in the room.
