Located in the village of West End, West End Lodge is a 200-year-old property featuring a garden and free WiFi. Sandown Racecourse is just 1.2 mi away. In Claygate, The Foley has been a village pub since the 1780s. Now a traveler's inn, it has boutique-style bedrooms, a stylish pub, and a dining room. Wi-Fi and parking are free. Food, stayed in three different hotels on our trip to the UK, including Hilton, Premier Inn and this was by far the best food. The weekend breakfast finishes at 10.30am and weekdays 9.30am. We forgot this and on monday morning the owner came and knocked on our door at 9.20 to let us know they are closing up and to make sure we were ok for breakfast or else we would have missed it, great service
Nice high street with some very good restuarants , walking distance to Sandown racecourse and 20 mins from Kempton so perfect for our stay. Not far from shopping in Kingston and also the river Thames and the great walks you can have.
A bit tight on parking but staff were very accomodating. Quality of food was of a high standard so was room and facilities. I am quite short the bath was a bit difficult to get out of and a bit slippery we stayed in room 1 We would definitely recommend the bear at Esher
Esher is a compact town with a proliferation of estate agents and restaurants. We ate at the Cote Brasserie where we had a most enjoyable evening and, bearing in mind this was Esher, it was very good value. Getting around Esher on foot is easy but in a car is decidedly more difficult and parking can also be problematic.
Esher is a really nice town with plenty of places to eat and sights to see. It's known for horse racing so some places have an equestrian theme. The train station to town is a straight forward walk and takes around 10-15 minutes. Cross the road and walk left from the station, go past Cafe Rouge on the right corner and it's a straight road to the High Street. Here you'll find all the shops and restaurants. The Albert Arms, where I stayed, does a nice roast on Sundays and the Giggling Squid does great Thai food. The Thai Green Curry is a must! There are plenty of shops too including a Waitrose for your grocery needs.
Good range of restaurants and shops, if a little expensive. Country setting but within easy reach of local tourist attractions such as Kew and Hampton Court, and London. Would recommend La Orient Chinese for beautifully cooked authentic food.
We liked everything about West End Lodge. It is situated in a quiet residential part of Esher. The property is beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Edwina was the perfect host, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, Edwina cooked us whatever we liked. Our bedroom was spotless clean, warm and comfortable. Toiletries were provided and drinks in the fridge. We had a lovely stay so can highly recommend West End Lodge.
Excellent value for money; especially in the salubrious area of Esher. Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated room, immaculate, fantastic location, friendly guy who checked me in, what more can you say? - oh yes there was a fan and a coffee machine in the room ( however one tiny thing - I would have liked some biscuits!)
A great weekend at The Bear. Staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. Location is perfect. Rooms are impeccable: clean, thoughtfully decorated and spacious. Breakfast is served until 11:30am so it’s perfect for those of us who enjoy a relaxing morning. All in all, a great place to stay! We’ll definitely be back.
I’d say the decor is dated but very well maintained. Staff were a pleasure to deal with and location, was perfect for our night at Esher Theatre.
Clean well appointed rooms. The hotel is in a good location close to several amenities.
