Hotel in Felixstowe
Close to the town center and 0.2 miles from Felixstowe Railway Station, this Victorian hotel offers free parking for guests. The property was initially built for Lord Tollemarch. Staff were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We could have upgraded our room but for a two night stay it was ideal. Bed was comfortable ,hotel was quiet and only the seagulls woke us in the mornings! Good Value. Breakfasts were vey tasty and served hot as were the 2 evening meals we had. Meals served on HOT plates. We had a rainy afternoon but had a large choice of places to sit or play a game in the hotel.

A variety of good restaurants, cafes and takeaways. The pier was rebuilt in 2019 and the Boardwalk Cafe on it has inside and outside seating. It was too late in the year to enjoy the cliffside gardens but in summer they would be fabulous. There are lots of steps and a steep hill from the shopping area to the beach which could be a problem for the less mobile but there is parking (charged) on the promenade.
Felixstowe is a very pleasant seaside town with many small shops and cafes. We used a cafe called All Things Nice for our breakfast and evening meals, they have an excellent menu for breakfast, lunch and evening all very nice. There is a good walk along the promenade alongside an excellent beach. One place not to miss is a trip to the dock viewing area where you can watch the massive container ships entering and leaving the dock area. There is an excellent cafe called Viewpoint Cafe that serves very good breakfasts and regular meals.
I wouldn't particularly recommend Felixstowe as a place to visit. It suited me as my brother lives there and it was convenient for visiting other parts of the Suffolk coast. I will probably return to visit my brother and would definitely choose to stay at this hotel again.
I like Felixstowe and have known it on and off since my teens. I now find it a relaxing, easy going traditional seaside resort with a very good wide, long promenade, a pier and some fine cliff-side formal gardens. It also has a lively high street and plenty of seaside amusements for children. Felixstowe Ferry, past the golf course a mile or two north east of town where the river Deben enters the sea is quite different in character, all sailing boats, crab fishing and superb fish and chips in the Ferry Cafe. I hope, as I have, you come to love Felixstowe.
Nice little town, plenty of shops and places to have a coffee etc, public toilets were open and clean, people friendly , if you’re looking for reasonably price great food try All Things nice , in Hamilton road , great staff and food is great value and presented well. Along the sea front is nice to walk along if weathers nice too .
Felixstowe has much to offer and is an untapped and beautiful spot, with great beaches, shopping antiques, boutiques and fabulous book stalls. Fresh fish restaurants and a great promenade for skating go carting or walking the dogs. The terraces are well manicured setting a picturesque back drop to the sea. Well worth the visit, even if you are passing through.
The staff were absolutely excellent and couldn't do enough for us. They were so friendly and guided us to the best places to visit and restaurants too. Beck on Reception and Kelly in the Bar were amazing and so was our lovely girl who was there for breakfast, sadly we didn't get her name. She was amazing and the abuse she received from other residents who were so rude to her and she did not deserve this, she dealt with the situation so well - absolute credit to her. T The location of the hotel was great.
