This charming family-run hotel is located in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, just off the A82 and close to the banks of the famous Loch Ness. Breakfast was incredible due to restaurant been booked out did not get a chance to have dinner, based on my experience with breakfast not surprised the restaurant is always booked out.
It is small but well-placed at the southern end of Loch Ness. We were only travelling through, but it would be a good base for a short break. We ate at the hotel,so I don't know about alternative places. The canal is just by the hotel and we watched a boat pass through the loch gate from our room window.
We re-visited Fort Augustus to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we married in Fort Augustus). This place is very special with stunning scenery. The lochs are amazing. There are plenty of eateries together with a grocery shop, butchers, newsagent, post office and gift shops. It has a petrol station on the main road and has several hotels, guest houses and a couple of chalet parks.. There is also a large carpark.
We loved the open feel of Fort Augustus, you did not feel like you are on top of your neighbours. The staff are friendly, and I had the honour of meeting the owner, what a lovely lady. If I were planning on staying longer than two nights, I would certainly book for a bigger pod with kitchen amenities in order to cook. Other than than, I look forward to coming back.
Fort Augustus is a busy bustling location, lovely to while away time around the staircase lochs. Sit beside the locks with a drink from the Lock Inn, take a 50min boat cruise on Loch Ness, dine at The Boathouse beside Loch Ness or just wander around town and enjoy the gift shops and other eateries available.
My first trip to Fort Augustus was 23 years ago as a day trip. With that memory, we decided to stay for two nights on this occasion. The Caledonian Canal and the associated operations of the lock is every fascinating as it is a simple representation as to how human works with the nature for good. The Loch Ness is just a step away. Fort Augustus is a good base to explore both east and west of the Loch Ness.
The view was great and made fantastic pictures too. There were lots of nice shops, and lots of cafes and restaurants with tasty food inside. There is boat trip there, but I would try book it a few days early because it's very popular and seems to book up rather quick. The midges are annoying, but if you cover up then you'll be okay. I think it's a very good place to go.
We stayed in a family glamping pod (no 1), it was clean, comfortable and had a nice seating area outdoors if you had the weather. The location of the resort is ideal, just a short walk into Fort Augustus where you can find the cafes and restaurants etc. The Loch Ness cruise is also there to allow you to explore Loch Ness further. You can also find nice walks along the canal. Staff at the resort were friendly and welcoming. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
We stayed in the two bedroom apt. Spotless and very cosy with everything you need and amazing views of Loch Ness. The location is perfect with Loch Ness on the doorstep but only a short walk into Fort Augustus. Osh and Ash were great hosts and even let my daughter feed the horses and groom them which she loved. To sum it up my daughter cried as we left as she wanted to stay there she loved it that much. Thank you we will definitely return
Hotel is right on the banks of Loch Ness, with a short stroll into Fort Augustus which was really pretty. Loved the decor of this hotel, very traditional. Lovely big windows in the lounge overlooking the front grounds and loch, with huge sofas, perfect for relaxing with a drink. Food in the restaurant was great quality. Very friendly staff and hotel was really clean everywhere.
We had a lovely Stay in Pod 1. Complimentary Prosesso and sweets were a very nice touch. Enjoyed.. Warm and comfortable for our 3 nights stay.. Lovely communal sitting area at side of Pods.. Fort Augustus Village wasn't far away.. 1 mile walk roundabout (20 minutes) Highly recommended Would stay again in future 🙂
The location and setting of Fort Augustus is magnificent with great views down Loch Ness and the surrounding mountains. The Caledonian canal lock gates proved an interesting spectacle too. It certainly helped that we had glorious weather, blue skies and very hot for the time of year.
The Old Convent is situated within easy walking distance of Fort Augustus. The apartment was well equipped, clean , comfortable and spacious. A real home from home and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful.
Excellent accommodation mixing old features from the original building with all the modern facilities needed. Ideal for visiting Fort Augustus and Loch Ness.
Everything..the location right on Loch Ness, the proximity to Fort Augustus, the views, the apartment, the Abbey, the grounds, what was not to love???

The grounds of the Abbey and the Abbey itself are glorious. The facilities in the self contained apartment were great. It was spacious and well appointed, with full cooking and cleaning facilities. Bonus, we had a view of Loch Ness.
