The location was ideal as a base to travel around the Highlands. The staff were fantastic…very helpful and informative and the glamping pods were well appointed, very comfortable and great to come back each night.
Fort Augustus is a small compact little village with so much to see and do. There are plenty of delightful gift shops, great places to eat and stunning scenery. There is a Loch cruise boat service providing trips on the Loch as well as telling you a lot of interesting information about the natural history of the Loch and its famous monster! The Caledonian canal, which runs into the Loch, has a series of lock gates that make for an interesting watch when boats pass through.
Absolutely amazing experience. Hosts Osh & Ash are a lovely couple and of course I have to mention their beautiful dogs Amber & Margo. Loved the cabin, we were sad to leave it. Can't wait to go back.
Lovely village plenty of activities . Perfect location for a 2 or 3 day break. Loch Ness on doorstep and watching the canal lock gates moving the vessels up and down the different water levels was amazing. Good food at the Bothy and lock gate pub. Chinese restaurant not so good . Plenty nearby to keep you occupied whether you walking of cycling around village or stopping off for a few hours on your travels.
It is a quiet, peaceful, little village with a couple of pubs, beautiful scenery, fresh air and at the mouth of Loch Ness. There is a loch system for the boats and the sound of flowing water. A trip around Loch Ness is a must. A really lovely part of Scotland.
We only stayed one night and hadn’t really checked what there was to do there which was a shame because we would have gone on the cruise up the Loch. We did have a lovely meal at The boathouse restaurant. Well worth a visit but book first.
