Located in Garstang in the Lancashire region, Countryside Retreat in the Heart of Garstang has a patio. It was close to the centre of town for us but also quiet. Wi-fi worked well and handy to have the Chinese take-away downstairs. It can be a bit worrying when you see the piping from the place as you head up the access stairs but we had no problem with noise or smells. There are also two convenience stores in the same block although with COVID their opening hours were restricted. Everything decor-wise in good condition.

Garstang was a lovely break from our motorway trip south. Lovely views of countryside and walks along the river, past boats and barges, with a good mix of traditional shops and modern supermarkets! Noticed lots of "For Sale" notices on properties, many "sold" so others find it desirable!

convenient stopover from M6 travelling between Cheshire and Cumbria. didn't visit anywhere else so can't comment on the area. Ate with friends prior to travelling but not in the hotel or surrounding area.

Lovely clean rooms in quiet corridors away from the busy parts of the property. I particularly like our view of the garden with its little arbour. The dining area is neat and comfortable and there's a lovely outside area if the sun is out. Inside, the public lounge was nice and relaxed. (very quiet when we stayed, not long after restrictions lifted and the place reopened.)

Rooms big , staff excellent. Thin walls can hear everything in corridors and the room above . Had a good deal on price not sure if pay full price . Location good for uni and Lancaster city centre . Restaurant menu basic. Rooms need updating wood furniture and double bed is two singles put together !

Lovely town and very friendly area in general.
Lovely town and very friendly area in general. We went on a couple of local walks out in the countryside One being beacon fell and the other was a large forrest with a lovely river running through. We visited the local town, which was a nice quiet welcoming place, we ate at the th’owd tithe barn and also the royal oak, both home cooked meals were very nice and would highly recommend.

Garstang is a lovely market town with a very good atmosphere. There are lovely walks by the river and canal and a lovely pub by the canal where you can watch the barges and water activities. There are a good selection of interesting shops in the town and the people are friendly and helpful.

Excellent stay whilst visiting for a festival nearby. Property was lovely and very grateful the host allowed us to check in earlier to get to our festival on time! Very friendly and accommodating and would love to stay again when next in the area :) Really Liked the location as still close but out of the hustle and bustle of Preston. Garstang is such a lovely place.
