We went for a wee night away, we have been many times and that’s why we returned, it’s mystical and magical in all weathers, romantic too ♥️ The drive is one of the best in Scotland with magnificent views, mountains and waterfalls
without doubt my favourite place on the whole earth. Glen Etive, left hand turn just after the bridge before you go into Glencoe is also beautiful. Glencoe top, middle and bottom are all stunning locations, even in the fog. Bidean Nam Bien (Mountain) is a fantastic challenge but there must be 15-20 walks in the area.
Glen Coe and Glen Etive are the most stunning glens in my opinion. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of walks to do in the area for all ages and abilities. The villages of Glen Coe and Ballachulish are well situated near to Fort William for the bigger town amenities and the Lochs Linney and Leven have plenty more opportunities for wildlife spotting, waterside dining, swimming and water sports as well as boat trips. Literally a place made in heaven for outdoor enthusiasts.
Glencoe is fantastic for walking and you are spoilt for choice no matter what your fitness levels are. I don't like to spend to much time (if any) touring, but at this particular location you don't have to. If like me you like the great outdoors and just want to walk, the mountains are on your doorstep as are many walking routes/pathways. If you're lucky with the weather there's nowhere quite like it, but I would try and book a stay when midgies aren't such a pain. There are lochs nearby if you like watersports and of course cycling, but beware as the roads are very busy and drivers seem to have a problem adhering to the speed limit even on very quiet roads with pedestrians
Beautiful locations and loads of walks. Good for campers and hill walkers. Rainy days gives a mystic charm. Loved the drive and scenery to Etive forest. Lovely walk at An Torr and hot food at the Clachaig Inn. Experience Mother Nature at its best.
Most of the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated within some beautiful scenery not much around in the way of pubs/shops/restaurants. The room was really disappointing, not as clean as it should’ve been, way too small, the view was disappointing and the hotel is generally tatty not worth the money you pay. The restaurant is nice when you get there but there is an old door from the hotel to the restaurant which looks like it is for staff only then you are in a cold hallway where the kitchen on your right that you can see into, we saw staff carrying frozen meat to the kitchen, far from ideal.

Robert and Morag were wonderful hosts with breakfasts made to order and a dinner cooked for us that exceeded our expectations. My husband and I could not say enough about the hospitality offered by this wonderful couple, the beautiful location, and the House itself. Comfortable, welcoming and generous - I took my first bath in years in the deep tub in our bathroom! We explored the Highlands from this location as a part of a 10 day vacation to Scotland. Every recommendation Morag made was spot on. We would return again.

Amazing views from this comfortable and stylish lodge. Just over the bridge that separates Loch Leven and Loch Linnihe in North Bellachulish, the location is perfect for exploring the area. Fort William is only 20 minutes away. There is a Co-op in Bellachulish and an M&S Food Hall in Fort William, so self catering was easy. We also ate at Loch Leven Hotel and the food was excellent. The owners were very helpful and the lodge was very clean and well furnished. Would thoroughly recommend this lodge to stay in.
This is a wonderful hotel that basks in a traditional style of hotels of yesteryear but in a modern subtle style. The staff are so friendly and made us and our puppy feel very welcome. This was our 4th time staying at the Ballachulish hotel and on each occasion, the hotel has just got better and better. It is for these reasons, that we will recommend this wonderful hotel to our family and friends and we will continue to stay there.
Glencoe
A very special hotel, truly a unique experience, as it is a renovated castle / mansion with only 5 huge suites and breakfast / dinner is served directly to your room. Staff is very friendly and helpful (activities, tips etc) The view onto the lake and the surrounding gardens are spectacular! Truly a place to come and disconnect, indulge in the beautiful nature around the hotel and enjoy a very special couple of days.
The location is perfect! Quiet, with a spectacular view. The accommodations were far and above our expectations, which included well stocked refreshments of coffee. tea. and small snacks. Mairi was most welcoming, and was very understanding upon our arrival. Her recommendations of dinner (The Holly Tree) was a excellent. Lovely apartment, extremely clean, well organized, and most welcoming.

Just a lovely cottage in a great location. Everything was provided, including lots of towels (it rained a lot!), lovely warm bedding, tea and coffee, etc. Location is great in a lovely village on the edge of Glencoe, with a chip shop and pub straight across the road! Communication with the owner was great as well. I had a wonderful time walking and talking photos.
Glencoe
Modern and very clean property, with the most comfortable bed I've slept in away from home. Linens were high quality and smelled very fresh. The hosts, Iain and Jackie, were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish we could have stayed longer than one night. Perfect if you're looking for a small, very homey place to stay in Glencoe.
Glencoe is a very tiny place. The hotel is good located, on the road, near the lake. There is a restaurante (you must go before 8:30 pm) in the hotel and the food is good. The bar is ok. The breakfast is complete and delicious even though the service is not as good. (we had to ask for napkins, and they bring us just one!)
The dinner was so good it tasted amazing and the views from the dinning room were wonderful. The room and decor were in character with the old style hotel and it has beautiful gardens which lead down to a beautiful view of Loch Leven bridge where there are incredible sunsets.
Loved that we could take our dog. It seemed that the hotel was understaffed but the 2 we mostly saw were super helpful and friendly. Food was delish and the view over the loch from the spa was divine. Such an interesting, characterful building too.
This was a beautiful location. Our room was large with excellent views. Nice dining facilities with lots of lounge seating. Nice menu and bar selections. We were passing through and only stayed for 1 night. Very beautiful area! Very nice hotel!
Glencoe
Loved it...the location, the cabin was beautiful and cosy and I have the best time walking through the woodlands and watching the horses in the adjoining field. Will definitely book again next time I am traveling through Scotland.
The lodges have great views over the loch and the hotel restaurant offers amazing food.
Location and lodge were both absolutely stunning! Enjoying the jacuzzi while overseeing the loch, the breakfast that’s delivered to your front door and the great staff all made us want to stay longer.
The cottage was gorgeous, cute and cosy and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The location was ideal for exploring the Glencoe mountains. Would definitely recommend this property.
