Hidden in plain sight on Glossop High St, Peakdale Lodge can only be described as a little gem. We stayed in Room 9, the loft suite which was large, comfortable and included a balcony which boasted relaxing views of the Peaks in the distance. Breakfast was very well organised with pre-prepared portions for each room left in the dining room for collection and included pastries with conserves, fresh fruit and cereal. Fresh milk, orange juice and yogurts were also available in a fully stocked fridge. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. All in all we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be returning and recommending to our friends.

Located in Glossop, Norfolk Arms features a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Glossop is a gorgeous English town in the region of Derbyshire, East of Manchester. The architecture of the, mostly, little buildings is to die for. It is an incredibly lovely place. The Norfolk Arms is the cherry on top. It is an absolutely gorgeous building, outside and in. The interior of the pub is full of wood pieces. The bar itself is just the perfect embodiment of a rustic English setting. The room was spacious and beautiful. The bed was so firm and comfortable. The pillows were sturdy. For an older man with serious back and neck issues, I cannot think of a nicer, more comfortable room to stay in. The staff was friendly, but not overly so. The locals pretty much kept to themselves. Still, it was such a lovely place, and wonderful experience. It was a picturesque example of Merry Old England. Having grown up reading Dickens, Herriot, and Tolkien, it epitomized the rustic English countryside. It was everything I expected, and more. I was truly delighted. I had my first English meat pie while staying there. It was delicious. The crust was flaky and full of flavour. The beef filling was seasoned quite well. The gravy, which was found inside the pie and on the side in a little gravy boat (for those who want more), was just divine. All being said, it was a tremendous experience. I am the better for it, and I am really glad I was able to spend time there.

A perfect stepping stone to explore the Peaks or the city of Manchester.. with easy access to some beautiful scenery of hills, reservoirs, long fetches of water, wild flowers and open moorland, whilst in the town of Glossop itself, plenty of amenities, restaurants, bars and local retail facilities
Lovely clean country town. Great places to eat. Kwei Ping chinese Restaurant in Henry Street absolutely superb food and at present all you can eat for £13.80 per person. Great staff and very friendly. Try Norfolk Arms. Gorgeous rump steak and again lovely friendly staff. Plenty of lovely country walks.
The countryside is beautiful around Glossop and the fact that you can just pop into the town if you need anything was great. However, lots of shops closed down and a bit dreary and not that many dog friendly places. We ate at the Norfolk Arms, the food was lovely, the staff were very friendly and welcomed the dog, would definitely recommend this pub/restaurant.
