Hotel in Goathland
The Inn on the Moor Hotel has a restaurant, bar, a shared lounge and garden in Goathland. There is nothing not to like about the property and staff. From the moment we entered the hotel, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and all the staff were so friendly. Having 2 labradors can sometimes be an issue but in the room they had there doggie welcome packs and doggie breakfast too. The hotel is a credit to the owners and staff and have already booked for next year
Goathland
The Goathland Hotel is in the center of Goathland and is more commonly known as The Aidensfield Arms in the UK television series Heartbeat. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. The location, perfect. The room was lovely and also clean. Staff were acclimating and friendly. Food was averagely priced. COVID aware, required to wear a mask upon entering the hotel. We did not expect that, however, no issues with that.

Right from the warm welcome when we arrived to the long goodbye as we left, Gill and Dave are lovely hosts who made us feel like part of the family! Breakfast cooked to order and done perfectly. Beautiful room which was incredibly clean. WiFi was a nice touch, we didn't use it very much but it worked well when we did. We were given tips on the village and local attractions, including the pub down the road!
Goathland
Located in Goathland, 2297 feet from North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Fairhaven Country Guest House features accommodations with a bar, free private parking, a shared lounge and a garden. Evertything - comfortable room, free private parking, picturesque village location, delightful breakfast (unless you're doing a morning walk you probably won't need lunch), in the room I had spectacular moorland views, friendly hosts. I honestly can't see how Sarah and Pete do it for what they charge. If you need to lay in supplies for an extended stay, a big Sainsbury's in Whitby is 10 miles away. One local pub that is open so far serves very good dinners; hosts will book you a reservation.

A lovely village surrounded by beautiful countryside. The North Yorkshire moors railway passes through the delightful Goathland station. Very popular with walkers and people wandering through the village. Lovely cafes and quaint shops. Good parking.
The country house decor was lovely. The restaurant is stylish and the food absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips and it was a big tasty plate of food. Staff are friendly and the hotel is cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. Mallyan spout is a short walk away as is stunning moorland scenery. Will definitely return. Goathland is a beautiful village.
Beautiful walk down to Malayan waterfall, we went left at the bottom of the steps, and managed to complete it all, it's quite rough terrain and definately need good footwear, I think we the only ones that went all the way round , there's some deep drops and and lots of bracken to get through , it was an adventure to say the least, but really enjoyed .
We love Goathland and the surrounding area. Extremely picturesque and plenty to see. Short walk to the Mallyan Spout, which is worth the walk (although suitable footwear and a camera are recommended). Whitby isn’t far and agin is such a nice place, with lots to see and do.
If you are a fan of the TV series Heartbeat this is a bucket list must. I stayed at the Goathland Hotel aka Aidensfield Arms...my view would be not to stay there but for nostalgia sake pay it a visit for a beer
Gothland is a large spread out village famous for staging Harry Potter (Hogsmeade Station) and Heartbeat for ITV. It can be used as the base for a number of walks and has a couple of shops, cafes, B&Bs and the Mallyan Spout Hotel (named after a local waterfall)
We loved the little dog treat bags, blankets and feeding bowls for our dogs. Made us feel that they were very welcome. They even have dog treats and water bowls in the pub for the dogs to help themselves. I noticed that they tried not to put the dogs too close to each other at tables which was excellent thinking on their part. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the pub every night and throughly enjoyed the food. Can't thank the staff enough for their friendliness.
Location. Breakfast! (Amazing Black Pudding!) Hotel recommended a Taxi company who were really reliable, turned up exactly when booked and were flexible when we advised them of a delay on our return. Our room had a view of the church and the clock chimed regularly (which worried us at first) but luckily seems to be silent overnight.
