The hospitality of the staff was exceptional and the many public rooms, terrace and garden are exceptionally beautiful. The location across from the race course and within a lovely short walk into town, it has a unique and lovely quiet situation. Rooms overlooking the race course have binoculars for viewing the races! The homemade Cartmel flapjacks provided in the rooms are heaven.

Our room was fabulous. Full River view out of two windows. Windows also offered great ventilation. Room was very quiet. shower was great and everything was spotless. Staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and the pub service both drinks and food was excellent. There are a few really cute gift shops and a place for a coffee down the street. Will definitely stay again if we are ever in Arnside.

I booked this place after reading the lovely reviews and...

I booked this place after reading the lovely reviews and seeing the beautiful photos of the view, which really is stunning in person. It’s a peaceful spot with lots of potential. However, our experience didn’t quite match what we expected. I only found out a day before arriving that no bedding or towels are provided, even though the photos show fully made beds. It was quite inconvenient, especially since the booking was non-refundable. When we arrived, we also had to clean dog fur off the mattresses, which made the stay less comfortable. The bathroom is a wet room, meaning the floor stays wet after a shower, so something to keep in mind if you get up at night. There are also CCTV cameras, and after briefly going to say hi to the goats, we were asked not to approach them, which made us feel a bit watched rather than relaxed. Overall, it’s a beautiful location with great potential, but a few practical details and communication points could be improved to make it a more comfortable and welcoming stay.
