Good location, friendly staff. Some shortcomings in room facilities. Cold as heating not on, this had to be twice requested. Good evening meal but breakfast was disappointing as was served cold on the first morning in a cold dining area, even the China and cutlery were very cold. Some improvement noted but not sure food was freshly prepared and three mouldy strawberries found alongside yesterday’s grapes. No healthy porridge on menu. All in all very disappointing.
As it is winter and has been snowing I am keen to return in the spring/summer and look forward to that. We went to the burford garden centre for lunch and shopping. We had a great time looking at the lovely villages and scenery.
Problem getting transport from Hailey to Chipping Notrotn for the theatre without driving in the fog and the darkness of December! No bus stops nearby! For me, it was just revisiting my old home in Witney and seeing friends. I ate at the hotel this time round. The food could have been better but I always enjoy the breakfasts, especially the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. That is, apart from the small commercial packets of jam and marmelade! Winter, so the pantomime in Chippy! Always a treat. Oxford is not too far away for a visit to the colleges etc. Witney itself seems to be improving every time I return and it is easy to get round. Bampton is worth a visit and to the Aston pottery. Burford too is not so far away and the garden centre is a treat.
We had a wonderful few days here, wished we could have stayed longer. Blenheim Palace and the Cotswold within easy reach to explore. Then we came back to eat in the restaurant, Respectful staff, eager to help, would definitely come back, nice to relax and have a quiet rest. The accommodation is close to the bar/ restaurant but far enough away to have a peaceful sleep
Good location with attractions easily accessible by car. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food especially the breakfast. The bar & restaurant are very pleasant being themed around the Welsh Rugby Union with bits of history & photos placed all around so if you are interested in WRU or even Rugby Union it's a real treasure.
WE WERE REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO STAYING AS WE HAD DONE SO NINE YEARS PREVIOUS. WHILST THE STAFF AND FOOD HAD MAINTAINED THE HIGH STANDARD WE EXPERIENCED BEFORE, THE SAME COULD NOT BE SAID FOR THE ACCOMODATION. THE MATRESS SPRINGS STUCK INTO OUR BACK AND THE BATH SEALANT WAS BLACK WITH MILDEW. IT SPOILT THE LAST NIGHT OF OUR ANNIVERSARY BREAK. REAL SHAME
