Hotel in Lenham
Built in 1602, The Dog & Bear Hotel in Lenham offers cozy log fires, a courtyard terrace and cooked breakfasts. With free parking, Maidstone is a 20-minute drive away. Great old pub with excellant facilities. Friendly staff who wiling obliged all requests. Great selection of items on the menu and excellant selection of beers and ales on tap. (Loved the spitfire) Lovely old pub with great decor and a happy atmosphere with lots of locals enjoying a night out. Large selection of hot meals for breakfast. Lovely hot showers with strong water supply. We were allocated the disabled room as we had an 82 year old with us which meant easy access for the shower. Lovely shortbread biscuits provided ss well ss tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Room was large enough to comfortablly accomodate 3 adults. We picked the hotel as it was only a 15 minute drive to ashford internation train station for easy access to eurostar and our train arrived at 6.30pm and did not fancy a long drive back to Salisbury in the dark in the middle of winter. Would definately stay again.

The Maiden's Tower at Leeds Castle, a property with a restaurant, a bar and a garden, is located in Maidstone, a few steps from Leeds Castle, 3.1 mi from Sutton Valence Castle, as well as 4.3 mi from... We stayed at the Maidens Tower for one night. Paying that bit extra worth it as we were right next to the castle with a great view of it too. The room was clean and nicely presented. We were there for around 6pm and was great to have the grounds almost all to ourselves.

Leeds (Near Harrietsham)
Knights Glamping at Leeds Castle offers unique accommodations in spacious Medieval-style tents, with free Wi-Fi and a wood burning stove. Quirky, comfortable, very clean and tidy, everything we needed, great fun cooking on the fire pit - plenty of logs supplied. More amenities there than we anticipated eg use of kitchen and lounge area, plenty of outdoor furniture. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Everything from e-mail with information about property, staff, location, facilities, meal in Castle View Restaurant and instructions to locate property which took us straight there, were excellent. Shared shower rooms/toilets very clean and tidy, plenty of hot water, complimentary l’occitane de Provence toiletries
Needs a serious update. Carpets were disgusting and needed a good clean. Didn't want to walk bare foot on it. Net curtains all torn. Couldn't get any food as kitchen had no chef. So had to go out in evening to find something. Would have been nice to be informed before we stayed there. Not worth money very disappointed with place.
Walking the North Downs Way it seemed a good idea to stay at the Roebuck Inn. However they don't do evening meals and if there wasn't an Indian restaurant round the corner I would have been very hungry.
we stayed for 3 nights over the easter bank holiday but on arriving at the pub with checking in we found that the current owners have left and the pub is being run temporally by one woman. we where taken to our rooms to be greeted with dirty carpets that have not been hovered or with stains all around, inch thick dust , the smell of damp and the ceiling rotting away in some corners, two single beds and not a double. the bathroom had a mouldy shower curtain mould all over the taps. in order to air the toilet the only way to keep the bathroom window open was to use a cup or toilet roll. after this we where told then by the temp staff that there is no food served at the roebuck due to no staff only breakfast at a charge of £13 per person per night?. the pub/hotel/restaurant is falling apart and dirty even a struggle to sit in the bar as only serving drinks no bar snacks of any kind. thankfully co-op store across the road. a real shame it is the only pub in the village and told by locals not to stay and use the Indian resturant for drinks. relief staff member is doing the best she can on her own and friendly.
Room excellent. Breakfast was delicious but the initial service was a little unsettling as when ordering the breakfast we were asked 'Are you going to eat it all as if not it is a waste' and then when we confirmed we would like the full English but asked for the black pudding not be included - to then be told a little abruptly 'Well then that's not a full English then is it!'
We were travelling to France for a holiday. We travelled from Wales to the Roebuck for our overnight stay, then an early Shuttle to Calais. The Roebuck is a short distance from the M20 and therefore easy access to the Shuttle.. We have tried many options over the years when holidaying on the Continent, and now we have found the perfect one for us. We go to Italy in July and will stay at the Roebuck again.
I lived in harrietsham when I was a little girl, until the age of ten. Despite the modern road network that has built up around it, it has managed to retain it's kentish village charm and I would recommended as a good central point for many places of interest, including Leeds Castle and other historic sites.
